Just been told my daughters room at nursery have had a case of slapped cheek. She hasn't been in this week yet but due to go tomorrow til the end of the week. I'm about 8 weeks pregnant. I've read it can cause complications in pregnancy- should I keep her at home or do we just carry on as normal? I don't know how contagious it is- if she'd even get it, or if it'd be passed to me( I don't remember ever having it when I was younger)

You'll have to keep her off for a couple of weeks if it's going to make a difference. My DC has just had it, i think I've caught it, been in for a blood test. I think they're contagious before any symptoms; once the rash is there, they're no longer contagious.

If you can't keep her off for that long, just be vigilant with your own hand washing and throw away her used tissues quickly, etc.

Keep her at home (although slapped cheeck is transmitted before signs) and call GP if you have not yet had booking bloods get the GP to check if your immune or if you have has them sometimes the GP can ask for a check for immunity on that.

Can you ask your parents if you had it as a child? Chances are if you did you have immunity.
