Caesarean or Natural

Hi,

I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I was told at the beginning of my pregnancy that a caesarean may be necessary due to having hypermobility and a high BMI. When should I be told for definite which route I’ll need to go down? I have my 34 week growth scan and consultant check up next week - is this too early to decide?
Thank you Smile

I would just bring it up with them then. To be fair though, I have hypermobility and I have a high ish BMI (30, so I'm technically obese, but only just). I've had two perfectly lovely all natural home births. No one ever even raised the question of a c-section due to my hypermobility. I've been considered low risk as can be each time and have had perfectly straightforward easy births. So unless there are complications beyond that, I wouldn't necessarily opt for a c-section (that's just me personally based on my own experience), but obviously your consultant might be able to advise you if there is more to it than that.

I'd rather not have a caesarean if I can avoid it. I will ask next week if there is a medical preference. I think they were assuming that as my BMI is high then I'd have a large baby but from growth scans I've been told he is average. Fingers crossed for natural birth Smile
