I have had a niggy pain on my right side for a while now. I am 13 weeks, and know I have a cyst on one of my ovaries. Could this cause pain? Have tried to phone my consulant's sec. today but I had missed her. The cyst was found at my early scan at 6 weeks, but they didn't check it at my 10 week scan. Its like a permantant stitch pain.

how do you mean for a while? days, week? hours?

Twinklemegan · 03/05/2007 22:53

Could it be stretching ligaments? I can't remember how far gone I was when that sort of pain started, but it was a stitch like you described. Actually one night when I was about 6 months gone I moved awkardly and was in such pain for the next few minutes I nearly threw up!

ceolas · 03/05/2007 22:53

I'd definitely have it checked out. Phone your mw or consultant tomorrow

No idea what it is, btw.

Twinklemegan · 03/05/2007 22:54

I just reread your post and realised your pain's probably more towards the front than the actual side? In which case my suggestion may not be relevant? (I don't know actually - I hope you get hold of your consultant).

SparklyGothKat · 03/05/2007 22:54

for about a month, its started at a shooting pain, once in a while, butu this evening has been contant

SparklyGothKat · 03/05/2007 22:55

OP posts:
ceolas · 03/05/2007 23:07

do you have an emergency number for anyone?

SparklyGothKat · 03/05/2007 23:08

no, they took my notes off me at my appointment My sister has her though and she is under the same consultant, I will phone her tomorrow, and hope she took her notes with her as she has gone away for the weekend.

ceolas · 03/05/2007 23:10

Not that I'm suggesting it's a major emergency - Obviously you'd rather not have the pain or the worry over the weekend.

SparklyGothKat · 03/05/2007 23:12

the pain has been there for so long now, I am not hugely worried, if it had suddenly started I would be, but as its been there for ages, I am just getting annoyed with it tbh

Oh good, SGK. Hope you're OK - Keep us posted.

SparklyGothKat · 04/05/2007 13:05

I will do, the pain is slighty worse today, making me feel sick. Have noticed it is worse if I lift anything, or get stressed, so I think it might be an irritable womb again (I had this with dd2, though not as early)

Hi SparklyGothKat,
sorry to hear of your pain. It might be worth while to get checked out, but since you have had it for a while now, I wouldn't stress about it. I guess it could be the cyst or some injury
(ligemants, muscles, etc) that needs time healing. Fibroids are also know to cause pain
and soemtiume need to be treated wit pain killers.
I have a funny pain like a nerve that shoots from my lower abdomen right down my right leg and have asked a doctor baout it. She said it couldn't be related to the pg, but I am sure it is. Was never really worried though and it's intermittent, so not a comparison to your pain. Good luck!

Princesspowersparkle · 04/05/2007 14:54

Hi SGK
I had a pain on my right for absolutely months (Until at least 5 months). That was where the baby was laying thus causing the ligaments to stretch more dramatically that side I think! Only really been the last month and half that its eased off, although baby still prefers the right hand side to lay on. I'm positive for you its the exact same thing. Try not to worry- the doc should put your mind at ease.
PPS (29 weeks today!)

i think my mum said she is now going to hospital to try and rule out appendicitus.

SparklyGothKat · 05/05/2007 10:54

I ended up in hospital till 2am!! I'm tired and still in pain now. I was taken to gyne. ward where they made me wait along with 5 other women, to see a doctor. When I was finally seen at 1:30am, they said I could either be admitted and given pain relief or go home with painkillers, I choose to come home. They are booking a scan on tuesday for me to check the cyst or to rule out any other problems.

HI SGK
How did you get on??

SparklyGothKat · 08/05/2007 14:12

They have booked me in for a scan tomorrow morning. Apparently they have been trying to phone me but my mobile hasn't rang at all, so I phoned them at 1pm to find out what was happening and they booked me in. Have to be there for 9:30am. She said 9:10am to begin with but can't do that time with the school run.

Well good luck for tomorrow (not that I think you'll need it) and report back when you can!
