Control line lighter than test line

I know I shouldn't keep wasting my money on tests but because I had that slight bleed at the weekend I wanted to see what the lines said. Took a FRER just now and before the dye had even passed through the window, the strongest positive line came up and its now darker than the control line ! Is that normal?!

Completely normal, my first test was that positive as I tested about a week after my missed period. Congratulations SmileSmile

My health anxiety is taking over as usual and I'm panicking it's ectopic because aren't the levels really unusually high in an ectopic?

Doesn't make a difference which line is darker also you will know if it's eptopic !!! If you get a pain that shoots up your chest to your shoulder do to A&E untill then assume all is well !!:) also a slight bleed depends on the colour and quantity as to be worried or not however If it was quite bad a test will still turn positive for up to 2weeks , not trying to worry you but just making you aware Incase your not :) ❤️

When i had an ectopic the line was very faint.

SpongeCake23 · 26/02/2018 16:59

@Pickledgerkingsareathing The bleeding was red but very scant and only showed for one wipe after a wee (sorry tmi). It then turned pinky. It was after we'd done some sexual stuff (not intrercourse) but orgasm (sorry).
I've had some cramping throughout too, does this sound like a cause for concern?

Pretty sure there are often lower levels of HCG than usual when a pregnancy is ecoptic. Your test just means your hormones are strong enough that dye has been pulled from the control line - it happens the further along you get!

MrsL2016 · 26/02/2018 20:11

There is only so much dye in the test. The further along you are when you test the more likely it is the test line will become the more dominant line as it uses more of the dye. Congratulations on your pregnancy

This is my FRER when I was one day late, I did a few FRER tests with this pregnancy, they all had a darker test line. Definitely not ectopic as I'm 30 weeks now, I'm sure you'll be fine! (I did suffer from hyperemesis though, which is linked to high HCg) Envy

No I had that last week I wouldn't call it a cause for concern they say it's common after having a orgasm x

Pickledgerkingsareathing · 27/02/2018 10:20

Also I'd ring the doctors or midwife etc - some will have had miscarriages unfortunately some people would have had eptopics everyone is different :) don't panic xxxx

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 27/02/2018 11:53

Normal. FRER is a sensitive test and most people will start to have a test line darker than the control once they are a few days to a week late.

Please stop testing and fretting. You are not helping your anxiety. I think you need to seek some support for this.

This was my test 2 days before my period was due my test line is way darker than the control line
