Worried about twisting durino pregnancy

Hi, I'm a first-time mum-to-be at 19 weeks. Yesterday evening I accidentally twisted my body round while trying to get comfortable in bed. I then had a couple hours of side pain (right side) and backache. This morning I'm just bit tender and pain is gone. But I'm worried - did I hurt my baby or damage my placenta? Really cross with myself for being so clumsy. Our scan three days ago showed all was great and now I'm worried I've ruined everything!

That's just musculoskeletal pain. Round ligament pain tends to get bad around that gestation and you're more prone to pulling muscles etc in pregnancy anyway. Totally normal, don't worry.

No, you really wouldn't damage your baby or placenta by moving like that, they're well tucked away inside you. It's easy to damage yourself though during pregnancy as you have increase hormones that make your tissues relaxed enough for you to stretch and expand.

If you are worried you can always phone your community midwife for reassurance.

When you're pregnant, your body releases a hormone which relaxes the ligaments to enable you to give birth. So it can be easier to strain muscles. A nuisance but something you can manage once you're aware
