SPD?

So I'm now 21 week pregnant (first pregnancy) And when I'm walking I sometimes get these horrible pains in my pubic/pelvic area, sort of feels like its bruised and it's getting stretched or poked and it doesn't go until I sit down with my knees together, it's also sometimes painful when I get up out of bed? So I tried getting intouch with my midwife but couldn't so had to call the 24hr number and they said it could be SPD and I need to be referred to physio, has anyone got some advice please? Will it get worse? I'm also worried because I read that it could be baby positioning to come out but I'm way too early?Sad

I got spd in my second pregnancy and my first thought was is this labour starting at 29 weeks. For me it did get worse unfortunately but the best thing you can do is see the physio as soon as you can. They will give you exercises to help strengthen the area and a support belt if needed. Everyone doesn't get it very bad so fingers crossed by acting early you will be lucky

It sounds like SPD to me. I had it in all of my pregancies, each one worse than the last. I was in bed rest and a wheelchair on my second, though that also due to placenta previa and bleeding, and on crutches for the second half of my last pregnancy. I hear it normally goes away, in my case I still suffer from it 3 years after my last birth. But that is not the norm. If you do exercises and physio you should be absolutely fine. I refused the physio as I really really dislike strangers touching me and I could kick myself now for my stupidity. So if they offer you physio, take it!! Other advice, sleep on your side with a pillow between your legs and watch how you get out of cars... legs together like a lady 😉 Good luck x

I ended up not being able to walk, on crutches and signed off work early.

On the bright side it went after birth and didn't have it at all on my second pregnancy.

Sounded just how mine started the second time around. Just take it easy

Emzbee297 and don’t worry about baby positioning. At 21 weeks they’ll be here, there and everywhere -including down near your foof sending electric shocks out for fun. All normal. Sounds like beginning of SPD. Might not get worse so just be careful
