Has anyone had a baby at KCH? What was your experience like? Also, do you know if you can private for your after care?

Thanks so much

i had both my dc there. first time, had excellent experience, my midwife was there all the time. but with dc2 the after care was lousy, the toilets werent cleaned, not too sure about private aftercare.

DS was born at Kings, but before they opened the new maternity wing, which is meant to be better....but if they still employ the same cleaning company I doubt it
I do think they are good when you really need them to be good - but we had to keep Ds in for 5 days and I was going mad with the din and disturbance in a big shared ward (I think they have been changed now) and sent DP to investigate the private wing, thinking it would be about hotel prices and it would be worth it. But it turned out to be £750 a day - so not possible for us. Then I lost it over one particluar bad moment and they put me in a room by myself immediately - which meant DP could stay with me. They out a mattress on the floor for him.

Yuck, this does not sound good. I just hope we can have the baby and come home (it's my 2nd). My hubby is keen for us to go private afterwards if we need to stay over. I am not so sure it's worth the money.
