Hey all!

I'm 31 weeks pregnant, and generally healthy in myself.

Since Wednesday however, I've had a fever, with chills, and a cold and sore throat materialised two days afterwards. It's been 5 days now and I don't feel any better at all. In fact, I'm now feeling light headed most of the time too. Every morning I've woken up and my pillow and clothes have been wringing wet with sweat. I've been keeping my fluids up, eating ice lollies or tea (depending on my current temp), and I've still managed to have a good intake of food. But I just feel like something is majorly wrong. 5 days just feels like a long time to still be struggling to regulate my temperature, and I'm not getting better at all..

I went to the doctors on Thursday. My blood pressure was extremely high (138/80), and my temperature was high. There was no protein in my urine fortunately. But I was sent home and put on bed rest for a couple of days, which I've stuck to.

I'm not a hypochondriac by nature, but I feel like going back to the out of hours clinic tonight. I don't want this to affect my baby in any way. I mean, this is why I had my flu shot.

Opinions please? I know gut instinct counts for a lot, but I want to know if I'm sounding paranoid. I'm aware that fevers can be sign of some kind of infection..

(Please be kind)

Go with your gut. Call 111 and they will either get you an out of hours or send you straight in. My midwives always said they'd rather see a mum who is worried and everything be fine than a mum not come in and the worse happened. You won't be wasting anyone's time. Hope everything is okay once you have seen a doctor.

It sounds a bit like flu tbh. I had this even after the vaccine and did get sent in for monitoring. The fever and chills are horrible. But are you taking paracetamol? If not take some! When is your next appointment?

And yes, do make contact and seek advice. I needed an antibiotic for chest infection. Been fine ever since.
