Hi ladies I'm hoping you can put a worried woman's mind at ease.

I'm 8 weeks today.
If I wasn't pregnant AF would be due today.
I've been having pretty awful "morning" sickness that lasts all day except yesterday. I felt fine most of the day until around 4pm when it started again and got worse and worse ending in me bringing up the four mouthfuls of curry I'd managed two hours earlier.

This morning I've gone to the bathroom and have strained a little and noticed light brown cm on the paper once I've finished.
Tell me this is normal?

This is my first pregnancy and I'm 29, and I'm trying not to panic.
We haven't had a scan yet and I'm in with my midwife on Friday for the second part of my booking in appointment.

Has anyone else experienced this and go on to have a normal healthy baby?

Trying not to panic. Thank you.

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have had spotting at 4 and 8 weeks, as in when my period would have been due. I had an early scan at 6 weeks due to this and some cramping, where they saw the heartbeat so I'm trying not to worry too much but it's hard not to panic! The epu told me unless I experience heavy bleeding or very severe pains that I didn't need to go back again. I hope that's a bit of reassurance that you're not on your own with it!

OP I think they call it breakthrough bleeding. It can happen I believe but have it checked out at the EPU if you're worried?

I had this with my first pregnancy - that baby is now 16 Smile

It's hard to relax, I remember it well. Rest and keep an eye on it, sickness is a good sign I think. Contact your EPU if you get any pain.

Hi lass

Straining can cause lots of blood vessels to pop and cause spotting and brown discharge a day or so later. Most common with sex, constipation and funnily enough being sick (in my opinion based on what's happened to me!)

As long as it's not bright red and heavy it's all good - brown blood is old blood.

Good luck and as people have said call EPU if worried ☺

I had this. On the day I was due a period, wiped red blood which quickly turned to brown.
I paid 50 pounds for a private scan a few days later for reassurance and baby was fine with no obvious cause for the bleeding on the scan.
I'm 30 weeks now and all is fine

Try not to worry, I know it's hard. A private scan might provide reassurance if you can afford it.

Thank you ladies.

It's very very light. I wear a liner because of the excess cm and it's not touched that.

I think I'm just panicking. I was very violently sick last night and so I wonder if it's that.

Thank you for your kind words. It's not heavy, it's not red, I still have awful nausea and so I think I'll just rest up and try and not worry xx
