I’m 15 weeks pregnant and been having cramping on and off for a few weeks now. Midwife said it’s probably normal so I’ve not worried.
Got worse yesterday and went to epu today where they said I have a urine infection and sent my urine off for more testing.
Was given antibiotics.
For the past hour ish I’ve been having sharp pains in my kidney area on and off and it’s getting me worried that the infection has gone to my kidneys.

Is sharp pains in kidney area signs that my unrobe infection has turned into a kidney infection?
Has anyone had this and how has it been treated?
Will baby be okay?
Super worried now I’ve started to get stabbing pains in my kidney area. What shall I do?
Thanks.

Ring 111.

Hi OP, how are you feeling? When I had a kidney infection (not in pregnancy) I had terrible back pain and thought I’d strained a muscle. Then developed a raging temperature and was in agony and ended up in A&E. But my friend who had kidney infection in pregnancy had hardly any symptoms, so I think it’s different for everyone. If you’re concerned definitely called 111, better safe than sorry as kidney infections can have serious consequences. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

You need to go and get checked out again this morning. It may be you need different antibiotics. I had endless uti's when I was pregnant and spent the whole third trimester on antibiotics as mine just instantly came back every time I stopped. There's no need to panic at all but you definitely need to go and get checked. They won't think you're wasting their time.

It might be a kidney infection or it might be swollen kidney, you need to go to the doctor and describe your symptoms and get it checked out.
