Losing mucus plug in early pregnancy? (maybe TMI)

Has anyone experience loss of mucus plug in early pregnancy?

I am 9 weeks and when I go to the loo stringy, snot like mucus has been there when I wipe. There is no blood in it and is a yellowy/greeny kind of colour. No odour.

I had similar with a previous pregnancy between weeks 8 and 13 and had tests and it definitely wasn't infection. That pregnancy ended in a miscarriage so now I am really worried that it is a sign it is going to happen again.

Has anyone else had this and it not been bad news?

It happened to me around that time too, I panicked a bit but in my gut knew things were fine.

Easy to say I know, but just try not to think of it.

Thanks Babney I guess I am just really worried as last time I had a mc so connect anything that happened last time as something bad this time.

Why don't you give your EPU a call to put your mind at rest. It sounds to me like normal discharge but maybe you could just contact them to make yourself feel a bit better, that's what they are there for. Good luck, I know it's so hard not to think history is repeating itself but this is a brand new pregnancy and the chances of a healthy baby are on your side.

The number for the EPU will be on your green notes or if you ring the hospital switchboard they will connect you xx

It almost certainly isn't your plug unless there's blood in it. It sounds like perfectly normal discharge, which is heavier in pregnancy because of your higher level of progesterone.

I had the same at about 3 / 4 months from doing something stupid, lots of twisting and lifting at the waist, and didn't lose plug before birth so assume it was plug not just discharge. Although my waters didn't break until forceps got involved so maybe plug came out then. Sorry, probably not helpful.

The mucus plug is a big blob of jelly like stuff, it’s not like normal stringy discharge so I’d say it’s totally normal pregnancy fluid. It does dramatically increase in pregnancy which is why it comes as a shock! I wouldn’t worry unless it’s blood tinged.

Lots of extra mucous is normal and common! I had it earlier on in my pregnancy. Also I'm sure I've read that the mucous plug can regenerate?
