Still very confused with dates... Eek!

Okay so I posted a thread before about my dates being really odd. Now, if you read that then this will either confuse you more like me or make sense to some people! I'm really struggling to understand!

So, had positive test on 23rd Jan, plain & digital both positive. Digital said 1-2 weeks.
Period dates: 28th December - 1st January. Heavy first day as normal, 2 days of very little bleeding, using tampons.
Cycle was always 3 days after mmc in August.
Booking appointment at 6 weeks, received my scan date for Monday coming.

Now, my midwife said I was 6 weeks when I saw her got my due date of 4th October.
However, I had some bleeding and really dark brown discharge a week ago, had an emergency outpatients appointment that night.

Took a test there, strong positive, tested for water infection & was clear. The Doctor then told me I was 8 weeks instead of 6! I'm starting to show already too, so I put in 23rd September onto my bounty app to keep up to date with weeks from what the doctor told me. So right now I'm 9-10 weeks...

I know they don't book you into the scan and tests unless you're 10 weeks + which I've been told...
So, can anyone understand this or is it just me that's really bloody confused!

Based on your dates, with first day of last period 28/12/17, you are 8 weeks today. They date it from first day if last period. When did you see the midwife? When was the outpatient appointment?

BlueMermaid96 · 22/02/2018 06:04

I saw the midwife start for feb & my outpatients was last Sunday x

Clear blue are a nightmare for causing women stress.
You are always about 2 weeks more pregnant than their tests say as they count from conception and medical professionals count from first day of last period.

BlueMermaid96 · 22/02/2018 06:27

So I was 3-4 weeks with my test meaning I would of conceived a week or two possibly before Christmas?

OP digital pregnancy tests are not representative of how pregnant you are. So disregard that.

Your last period started on 28th December so if you like, this is pregnancy day 1. Obviously though you conceived after this date when you next ovulated. It's just the way it's worked out. You are 8 weeks pregnant.

For clarity put your dates into this calculator www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/due-date-calculator/

If it helps. The first day of my last period was 3rd January and I am 7 weeks pregnant. I am certain of my dates.

Intelinside · 22/02/2018 07:09

This happened to me. I had a scan at 10 weeks after my first period because of some bleeding but was told i was 9 weeks. The foetus is still so small then a week here or there is easy to misjudge but other PPs are right. The date taken is the first date of your last period so you are definitely 8 weeks, regardless of what any test or early scans tell you.

The 12 week scan will give you a due date and this is what will be on your matb1 etc. Dont worry about much else in terms of dates xx

Based on your dates (which is the only thing to base it on at this stage) you are 8 weeks pregnant. This will then be revised (or not) at your dating scan.

dkb15164 · 22/02/2018 08:12

Was never certain of my dates, doctor told me at dating scan due date rather than how far along I was. We calculated using an app and my mum (a midwife) calculated using different app and she thinks we're a week further ahead than we think we are. Midwife accepted our timing although we never mentioned my mums opinion. In the end, who cares, a week won't make a difference when I've been pregnant forever and a day. 7 or 8 weeks left to go for me, depending who you ask.

Fruitcocktail6 · 22/02/2018 08:18

Hi OP, if it helps my last period was 20th Dec, I am 9 weeks pregnant.

Wait4nothing · 22/02/2018 08:22

I don’t know how you could think you had conceived before Christmas and then had a period after Christmas? The pregnancy test tells you how long since you conceived (and is an estimate) while the number of weeks pregnant is since the first day of your last period. This is the date they will use until your dating scan when it could move a few days (depending on your cycle).
