Me and DP are hoping to move into a lovely house soon (we've just had the offer accepted as currently renting).
I had planned to keep baby in with us for the first year (is this okay?) either in a next to me cot, Moses basket or crib.

After that, we hit a problem. The other two bedrooms are in the attic - the next floor up from wheee we'll have our bedroom.
Is it okay to put a one year old/18 month year old in a bedroom on the next floor from us? We wouldn't have any other choice. Those rooms have low beams, but it obviously wouldn't make much difference to a baby/toddler as they won't reach anyway.
I'm more worried about being on the other floor.

That's fine. Just get a baby monitor

It's fine. It'll be a pain if they are a bad sleeper and you may decide to keep them in with you!

It'll be fine, we're in a townhouse and our bedroom is on the floor above the other two. Our little one moved down out of ours at 6 months and has been fine with the monitor.

Now he's in a bed we've got a gate across his door so he doesn't wander onto the stairs at night, but we keep the monitor on so he can call us (he's nearly 3) even though he can't get to us.

This didn't even cross my mind when we bought our 3 story house.
Don't worry it will be fine :-)

Our master bedroom is on the top floor and all other bedrooms are on the middle floor. We moved here when DS was 9 months. He went into his own room straight away. (Had a baby monitor for a few months, but I haven't used it for a while now as I can hear him when he wakes anyway.)
