Healthy snack pots to keep pregnancy sickness at bay!

So, having just hit 6 weeks, pregnancy symptoms are really starting to kick in. And the main one being bouts of real hunger! I am usually a three healthy meals a day, no snacking in between sort of person. But it's becoming clear that I need something in between otherwise I start to feel faint and then rather sick.

So, I was wondering if anyone had any imaginative ideas for pregnancy friendly easy but healthy snack pots that I could try out.

There are the obvious ones of hummus and dips, fruit, bread sticks etc... but more ideas be very welcome!

Hi, same here. Six weeks, too. Only crackers, plain almonds and Total yogurt that I can eat as snacks without making me feel queasy. Good luck!

Congratulations! 😁

I personally couldn't take anything 'healthy ' the first wee while as had hg. Just a heads up incase it gets any worse. Now at 29weeks I can quite happily munch on Apple's and pears.

beepthemeep · 21/02/2018 14:40

What about apple slices and peanut butter? Good mix of vitamins and protein!

Hairgician · 21/02/2018 14:40

Ooh one thing I did like was the wee custard pots, the low fat ones, with some stewed apple. Not too sweet and easy to eat and keep down.

I’d recommend not buying too much of anything, as what could be your favourite snack this week you mightn’t be able to stomach next week. I have cupboards full of things I bought and now don’t want to eat!

I only wanted beige carbs. I carried those belvita breakfast bars everywhere with me.

MrsL2016 · 21/02/2018 18:30

I second the need for beige carby food. I had lots of different types of breakfast biscuits. I know they are full of sugar but they really helped. I developed a bit of an obsession with grapes too. I found them really refreshing when they were cold from the fridge. Really cold water too.

I eat white toast for breakfast. White toast for lunch. Pasta for tea.

I have a fat face now. All I want to do is be sick!!

halfwitpicker · 21/02/2018 20:49

Cheese sandwiches. Crackers. Yogurt. Bananas.

running3 · 21/02/2018 20:55

Last week it was rich tea biscuits, this week I'm all over salt and vinegar Snack-a-Jacks!

Rumpledfaceskin · 21/02/2018 21:01

Nairn’s oatcakes. Come in handy little packets and lots of flavours to excite the palate Hmm. Bananas quite good for keeping sick at bay and the best thing I’ve found to settle my tummy is papaya. That’s about as healthy as I can manage right now. As others have pointed out, don't be surprised if you only want beige and sugar if sickness kicks in

I'm currently enjoying trifle sponge fingers (not in an actual trifle, just straight from the pack), and weetos (sp?!) in cold cold milk.

For a slightly healthier alternative, I'm managing tinned fruit, which tastes better than fresh at the moment because I'm keeping it in plastic pots in the fridge so it's really cold. I just want everything icy cold!

I hope your symptoms pass quickly :) (and mine too...)

RowenaDedalus · 22/02/2018 07:04

Oh I think I could do tinned fruit! I haven't eaten any fruit in 3 weeks now!

FutureMum · 22/02/2018 12:23

Today. I had a craving for rice krispies with hot milk (haven't eaten any rice k for years!). I have eaten them and tasted fine. Another small victory : )

pastabest · 22/02/2018 12:25

Those first few weeks aren't really about eating healthily, they are about trying to eat whatever you can that will stay put in your stomach.

If your stomach is telling you need crisp green apples and lots of water that's great.

If it's telling you it needs coke and scampi fries just roll with it. Healthy eating can resume in the second and third trimesters! Grin

eddiemairswife · 22/02/2018 12:36

I used to chew jelly cubes.

Vitalogy · 22/02/2018 12:51

Ginger biscuits with a good amount of ginger ingredient. Ginger's supposed to help settle the stomach.
