Health visitor and building works

My midwife mentioned the health visitor will likely try to visit before baby is born, which is great, except we're in the middle of building works! It should all be done by due date and failing that we have an unaffected bedroom.

am I worrying too much about what they'll think re house? And does the visitor pre book or just turn up? Thanks!

HVs round here book an appointment. I think they can do surprise visits but wouldn't unless there was a serious concern that necessitated one.

FWIW we had major building works going on from 11 weeks before DD2 was born until she was a number of months old. I was doing a lot of the work myself (I'm a tradesperson) and we lived in the house throughout. When I came out of hospital, part of the house didn't have a roof after being hugely let down by the roofer. We did go to great lengths with much masking tape and polyethene to minimise the dust in the few untouched rooms. My HV never batted an eyelid at the works.

Don't worry I moved house days before the HV came, my house was in total chaos, they really don't care.
