I'm 6 weeks pregnant and feeling slight nausea all the time. It is slight but constant and the only thing that gets rid of it is eating. Shall I just eat all day or can somebody recommend anything else? I'm sure I had this with dd but can't remember what I did about it.

The travel wrist bands you can buy really helped me in the first few weeks of pregnancy - reduced the nausea quite a bit.

Some people say that the nausea is made worse by low blood sugar, so eating little and often (healthy snacks if poss) is the best way to deal with it as it keeps your blood sugar on an even keel. If you're finding that eating helps then go with it, just don't do what I did and attempt to live on ice cream... (those were the days...)

I had this - regular meals and plenty of water helped

Thanks - will give the wristbands a go.

some people find ginger helps. I have not found anything that helps me, even wrist bands. I'm 13 weeks and for the first time in 7 weeks, today I think I'm starting to feel a bit better, still have nausea and exhausted but not as much. Its horrible, you have my sympathy.

Totally recommend the wristbands! That and eating little and often. Also, a box of dry crackers by the bed for a middle of the night snack helps - the pregnant body doesn't seem too capable of going all night without food....

Congrats!

Eat the ginger or make a drink?

any form of ginger, biscuits, cake, crystalised ginger, tea etc. works for some.

The other one I heard was to carry a lemon and dig your nails into it and sniff whenever you start feeling queasy. No idea if it works - perhaps you could try it and report back?

beckmo · 02/05/2007 21:28

Oh God. Just the word ginger makes me feel nauseous as I ate/ darnk stacks of it when I had MN. Travel bands did nothing for me...but try everything! What did help was eating all the time. I soon had to carry packets of oat cakes and chopped raw veg everywhere to avoid just grabbing whatever I could and becoming size of house.

beckmo · 02/05/2007 21:28

Drank. I drank it.

janeinbarcelona · 02/05/2007 21:47

Thanks for all the advice. I'll be wearing wristbands, eating ginger and digging my nails into lemons for the next couple of days to see what works

I couldn't take it any longer and went for acupuncture a couple of days ago and incredibly the nausea disappeared almost immediately
