I got told to do another urine test by the hospital im 9 weeks pregnant and all the receptionist told me was please could i bring in another sample no emergency. But when dropping it off she said it was requested by the hospital as no growth checking all ok. Im worried didnt think to ask and no idea what it means. Worried sick..

Phone back and ask them to explain what it means if you're worried! But I'd guess they are trying to grow bacteria cultures from your sample to check for UTIs, maybe your first sample wasn't sufficient or something?

She probably meant mixed growth which means that the urine has potentially been contaminated not necessarily an infection. Its nothing to worry about. They will just retest it.

Agree she was probably referring to bacteria growth rather than your LO. She worded it terribly though!

Try not to worry. If it was urgent or an issue the hospital would let you know and they certainly wouldn't tell you it was no emergency. It sounds like they might have had some kind of technical problem with checking your first sample and have just asked for another.

All they check for in urine is proteins or evidence of any infections, or evidence of diabetes. None of which are an emergency or anything that couldn't be treated. Of course it's much more likely that it'll all come back clear.
