Hello everyone got my anomaly scan in 3 weeks but it's killing me waiting and was thinking of having a private scan to put my mind at ease. Would they tell me if baby is doing ok? Also had my 12 week scan and heard baby's heartbeat 2 weeks ago. Am I going a little crazy?? Xxx

Hay Hun I had a gender scan at 15 weeks and the lady who did it was an x midwife and as well as telling us the gender she also went through the medical side of it so if it puts your mind at rest do it!

They won't do the detailed checks and measurements they do at your 20 week scan, partly because somethings are visible to them until around 20 weeks and partly becuase of the time it takes (our anomoly scan was about 40 minutes)

You can get a private anomoly scan, I saw that quoted at the place we went for out gender scan and it was about £250.

They will however tell you if they see anything that looks amiss during a routine reassurance scan (these are normally around 10 minutes so no time for detail) but they won't give you detail as you're not there in a diagnostic capacity, they'll just refer you to EPU.
