Hi All,

I'm debating between St Thomas or Kings for the birth. Any views? Kings is closer to my house, Thomas closer to work and seems to be better rated although i read horror stories about both. thanks

Can't really help but I'm hopping on for any views on St Thomas' as I'm currently choosing between there and Lewisham...

I have heard lots of good things about Kings' home birth team and know a few people who've done that and rave about it. My sister-in-law had an awful experience with both her babies and had C-sections and didn't rate the postnatal care but that was 10+ years ago. Another friend had a great experience with a complicated birth there and can't rate them highly enough. Sorry, I did say I wouldn't be much use!

Currently at Kings but still quite early so have only seen the midwife so far. Appointments and scans booked very efficiently. From my reading - antenatal care and labour care are good but not quite as good post natal but that was my reading of most hospitals.

I would say that both are pretty good so pick which one is better for you. Unfortunately you will horror stories about every hospital so I wouldn't base your decision on those.

I had very good antenatal care and a fantastic experience giving birth in the MLU at Kings. Postnatal was hellish but I think that's true most places. Friends were at St Thomas's and generally happy too.

I would probably pick Kings overall due to being a centre of excellence for fetal medicine and the advantages of being closer to home when actually going into hospital/being kept in.
