I would like to know - has anyone ever been in this situation and what was your outcome?

I am on nexplanon which is due to expire May 2018. I use a period tracker and have had a period every month since it was put in back in May 2015 (I am regular and always comes within a day or two, sometimes early, but period tracker is usually very close).... except for this month. I am now 6 days late ?? I took a preg test on Friday morning which was negative.

Has anyone been in this situation and were you actually pregnant or did your period finally arrive? The implant expires in a few months, could it be to do with this? I have been told missing periods is a side effect of the implant and that it's normal - but this is definitely odd as I have never missed a period before except in pregnancy.

Thanks!

I've had this. Nexplanon is an exceptionally reliable form of contraception. If it fails it's due to wrongful insertion, which doesn't sound like you've had as it's worked well for years by the sound of it.

If memory serves, they can actually be effective for up to five years, but are refreshed every three to be on the safe side.

Yes I agree it's never been any trouble at all. I'm worried it's something else stopping my period - how odd. I'm going to test again tomorrow and if no period maybe in another few weeks I'll go to the doc. Not sure what else to do ?

I think maybe just ride it out. You've had it removed so your body is now lacking the hormone it was getting - that can affect your periods.

I had the implant removed last year and I was pregnant after we had sex for the first time - I'm now 34 weeks! Apparently when you first come off contraception you're at your most fertile.

I stopped bleeding all together on the implant but then I started spotting a few months before it was removed. It was pretty regular and I tracked it too on an app.

It's still in there at the moment, and will be replaced in May. We aren't trying for a baby, but I can't understand where my period is? First time in my life (apart from when I was breast feeding) that I haven't got my period.. where could it be ?!

Hiya

Loved the implant but I had horrific heavy bleeding on it for awhile and that was sudden as it wipes my periods out for a year after dd1 was born in 2014.

Your body can naturally miss a period out due to stress etc so if that's possible then put it down to that - it it happens again then seek help.

I know a few people who have fallen pregnant at the near end of the implant and the doctor put it down to just how the implant is made - bit of a shock to them but healthy baby at end.

I have come on this morning thank the Lord phew!! I'd love another baby one day, but not right now. That's the latest it's ever been, so think it's time to get this implant renewed! Thanks everyone x

I have no bleeding at all with the implant. But towards the end last time I had spotting so I had it changed early just in case.
