Eating out for lunch and was really fancying a hot dog... came lukewarm so only ate half but out of interest decided to Google if I could eat them or not and I says to avoid them completely as they can carry listeria! Now I'm really stressing out Sad I'm 21 weeks and had 2 MCs so panicking about everything!

IT IS FINE!!!! Please stop panicking, you can have hotdogs cold. If it’s not mentioned on the NHS website disregard it, otherwise you’ll drive yourself mad!

I really wouldn't worry. Lots of things can carry listeria and it's quite rare to get it.

I ate a brie and cranberry panini when I was pregnant without thinking. DD is now 5 months old and absolutely perfect! 😊 we all make mistakes OP xx

If it was heated through to over 70°C soon before eating - which is presumably was (I don't know how these things are prepared) - you should be OK. The risk is there, but pretty small. Listeria are found in soil and listeriosis cases have been caused by all sorts of things, including pre-grated (hard) cheese. The guidelines are to avoid things whose conditions of preparations or storage make the survival of listeria bacteria more likely, but eating those things doesn't mean listeria were in there in sufficient numbers to make you ill. Mention it to your midwife if you're concerned, but try not to worry. Flowers

Hot dogs are fine

El1995 · 18/02/2018 16:33

Everything will be fine :-) I found out at 16 weeks I was pregnant and before then had been eating salami sandwiches at work, prawn cocktails and a bit of brie here and there, pregnancy is going happy and healthy at 33 weeks :3

Buxbaum · 18/02/2018 18:31

Brie and cranberry panini would also most likely be fine - they get hotter than the sun.

El, you can eat prawns anyway x
