Pains in early pregnancy

I'm about 5-6 weeks approx. Does anybody else get shooting pain and pressure both ends? (Sorry TMI) I keep worrying about an ectopic.

I've also had waves of what feels like intense period pains in my lower abdomen. A mix of AF pains and an upset stomach cramp. It makes me catch my breath and feel a bit sick. It only lasts a minute or two then passes. I've had no bleeding. This is my first pregnancy.

I'm getting concerned now.

Period type pains are normal, nausea also common, AF I had to google I presume you mean auntie Flo. There is a lot going on in your body at this stage. Ectopic pains can be googled.

SpongeCake23 · 16/02/2018 20:44

@welshmist I don't want to start googling as I have really bad health anxiety.

Ah Sponge, try to relax a warm bath, good tv. I had a miscarriage so the next time I was pregnant was terrified by every symptom.

I had an ectopic pregnancy many years ago. When I got pregnant again 2 years later, I was utterly terrified it had happened again and was in pain every day...felt like period pain sometimes, others like constipation. Every single made me panic

Eventually I had a very early scan which showed the baby (now a 21 year old) was in the right place and all that pain moreorless stopped.

Anxiety can really do a number on us.

However, see your GP and explain how you are feeling and why you're worried and let them check you out, for reassurance if nothing else. If that doesn't help then consider paying for a private scan.

And yes.... NO CONSULTING DR GOOGLE!

Don’t panic yourself too much.
I also had weird shooting pains, even mostly in one side that would come and go, and it was my first pregnancy so he no idea what to expect.
I was convinced it was ectopic but had a scan and found the sac in the correct place.
I thought it was far too early to experience any growing pains etc but obviously not, tour body is changing in every way possible and I also heard that after the egg implants in the uterus that it can cause period pain like cramps which has most women expecting to see there AF.
I worried myself silly for weeks over the pains and really wish I hadn’t.
I do believe that if it was ectopic you would really know it. From what a few people have told me, the pain is almost unbearable.
Please try and relax a little bit and enjoy it x

Oh and I also had pains in my tummy that felt like a stomach upset or like the start of food poisoning pains that never got any worse and I Googled for hours trying to find what that meant. Could find nothing about what it meant and obviously it turned out to be nothing

Yep same here, very frequent period like pains and dull aches too and I have a 6month old to prove it was all normal 😁

surreygirl1987 · 16/02/2018 23:10

I totally had / still have that. I'm 7 week. Went to doc who said many women get this. Sometimes the pain is very sharp but they did a scan and def not ectopic! Ligaments stretching apparently xx
