Hello,

I will be travelling for work in the next couple of weeks and I shall be 27 weeks, I'm aware I would need a fit to fly certificate from 28 weeks but given that I'm under the cut off point I was just planning to take my maternity notes with me (which I carry around anyway) but it all seems a bit arbitrary, has anyone ever been challenged on whether you need a certificate or not? I'm not massive but I'm quite obviously a decent way through a pregnancy.

I wasn't challenged but when I travelled at 27 weeks I took something showing my dates just in case.

Yeah, I flew a fair bit in both pregnancies and was always asked from about 26 weeks onwards I think.

FloydOnThePull · 16/02/2018 19:52

Chien did they take your word for it or did you have to produce something?

I had a fit to fly letter just in case which I produced. If I didn’t have it they may well have accepted my notes though.

One of my wedding guests was offloaded from a shorthaul Easyjet flight from Bristol because she didn't have a doctor's note. She was actually on the plane at the time and travelling with a 2 year old. They has to get a hotel and a new flight the next day.

It just takes one person to make a fuss but your notes should show your due date so I would think that would be enough.

I called the airline and they said to provide a fit to fly note from my midwife even though I'll only be 25 weeks when boarding. I'll be 26.5 weeks on the way back

Yes and I wasn't allowed to fly !!! I was 28wks and had a letter but was 3weeks old. Said needed to be dated within a week. I did look massive though.
Was awful

I was asked but didn't have to give proof

FloydOnThePull · 16/02/2018 20:17

Hmm... so it is all a bit arbitrary then. I guess I'll take my notes and hope for the best. It's two days of wanky team building and goal setting so if I was kicked off the plane it wouldn't be the worst thing!

In my last pregnancy I flew at 31 weeks and although I had a letter just in case, nobody asked me at all (and I didn't have a small bump).
