Twins? Or symptoms for singleton?

HI
First pregnancy. Im Over 30 and twins are in my family.
When I did my home pregnancy test on he day my peridot was due it turned positive before I had even put it down. I'm now 6 1/2 weeks and I have a small bump. I am skinny, but now terrified that there could be two babies!! Haven't had many other symptons other than being thirsty and cramps.
Anyone had similar and still have just one baby? Thank you x

Yes that's pretty normal for many pregnancies.

Even if it was twins you wouldn't have a bump just yet. Sorry to break it to you but it's most likely just bloating/fluid at the moment. Grin

Your 'bump' will go and then come back again after about 12 weeks.

Sounds fairly typical of pregnancy. I’ve had a single child followed by twins, there wasn’t much different in the early days to be fair.

Don’t be terrified either way, single babies are lovely and twins are lovely. You’ll be fine whatever happens.

What type of twins are in your family? Only fraternal twins are genetic.

I've had twins and a singleton. Positive pregnancy test very early (Day 24) with twins but didn't show at all until about 14 weeks. Symptoms before I tested.

Singleton pregnancy - Sickness was more severe and looked pregnant by about 11weeks (boobs gave it away Smile).

In the early weeks I had more symptoms with my single pregnancy than my twin one.

BrazzleDazzleDay · 16/02/2018 17:03

The only difference with my twins was I was utterly ravenous and actually hadn't been sick, unlike the other two pregnancies.

I didn't show early with twins or have any sickness. Did get a strong positive result and really hungry week 8.

Thank you everyone. I know it says so ungrateful but I'm just getting my head around one baby let alone two lol.
Yes they are all none identical twins in the family and all on my mums side, so my chances are higher.
Obviously we will adapt no matter what but my clothes already seem a little tight. No morning sickness so far thought 😁 x

At least you're thinking about it so if it's twins, you're kind of prepared. I had an early bleed at 5 weeks so thought I'd had a miscarriage. Had to wait for an early scan a few days later. Wasn't expecting one baby never mind two!! Best shock ever though 😂. Good luck!

Your clothing will seem tight, waist thickens and we get bloating from has, constipation etc in first few months.
I bloated so much I assumed I'd be huge I'm now 25 weeks with no obvious bump, just look a bit chubby

Tbh OP I got a positive at 7dpo with my single baby :) I don't think it's a sign necessarily. I'm sure whatever it is it will be wonderful though 😊

Baubletrouble43 · 16/02/2018 22:16

I think I showed early at about 7w with my twins

DowntheTown · 16/02/2018 22:20

My pregnancy test lit up like a flare with our dts! Twins are awesome. Good luck either way OP.

I had a really strong positive pregnancy test with my twins, like you describe it turned positive before I'd had a chance to put it down.
I had terrible morning sickness with the twins as well, but it was worse with my subsequent singleton pregnancy.
Exciting times!
