Early scan because lmp not known but mc in Dec?

I had my booking app on Tuesday and the midwife couldn't put an LMP as I had a very early miscarriage on 27th Dec.

So even though that was a mc not a period theres no way I can be more than 7.5 weeks now. I was temping so know when I ovulated as well but midwife wasn't interested in that.

Midwife told me I'd get a scan in about 4-6 weeks time but today I got an appointment letter for next week when I will be about 8 weeks.

Anyone else had an early scan for unknown lmp? Will I still get one at 12ish weeks to make sure its ok (dont need it for downs test as have declined that).

I hope I dont turn up and the sonographer send me away again when I explain that I know I can't be more than 8 weeks!

I told my midwife my ovulation date not lmp and she went with that so it’s annoyingly yours won’t. That said, they won’t turn you away if you’ve been sent for a scan and you’ll be able to see the heart beat. You’ll still get the 12 week one as it doesn’t just test for DS (they didn’t at mine either). Congrats!

Hi, congratulations! Yes my "12 week" scan was about 4 weeks ago. Due to my lmp being end of October the midwife had to go by this date, although I knew I was only a few weeks pregnant due to only recently getting a positive test. So at my "12 week" scan I was obviously dated at 6-7 weeks - no surprise to me, but they were lovely and just booked another one when I'd be 12-13 weeks in early March. Didn't feel like I wasting anyone's time. So yes you will be offered another scan at 12 weeks if you are only very early at your first scan xx

And I was the same - I'd said I was pretty sure I was not that far along but still insisted on having a scan just in case. I couldn't complain as I got to see a flicker of a heart beat. These last few weeks have dragged though counting down the days until my actual 12 week scan

Thanks that makes me feel better as I was worried I'd get this one and then have to wait for the next one till 20 weeks x

At our trust if you are over 8 weeks that scan will be used to date the regnant and unless you wanted combined screening your next scan wouldn’t be until 20 weeks

No you'll definitely still get the 12 weeks one. I was scanned straight away after I found out but I hadn't had a negative pregnancy test before my new positive so they weren't sure if I was pregnant or it was an incomplete miscarriage. They then scanned me every two weeks up to 12 weeks and then I just had the 20 week scan after that.
