I have an 18 week old DD and I am late....I think. I've had 2 cycles exactly 28 days apart since she was born. I feel as if I could be PG but as it's been so long, I can't remember really what a brewing AF feels like as every cycle can be different with me.

Anyway - last night I did a test - faint line but definitely there. So much so it made DP palpitate. I retested an hour later using a digital one and it was negative.

Still no AF which was due on Monday. Possibly.

I will retest when he gets home tonight but OMG!!!!

congratulations

bubble78 · 02/05/2007 10:11

i dont know about the digital ones but with the others i was always told a line is a line so congratulations

ledodgy · 02/05/2007 10:12

iirc the digital ones need quite a bit of the HCG pregnancy hormone to show up. The other test was probably more sensitive so i'd say there's a chance you are pregnant.

PinkTulips · 02/05/2007 10:12

positive is always a positive

congratulations! (and tell us who you really are! )

PeachyChocolateEClair · 02/05/2007 10:13

Some are more sensitive than others, so get the best test you can- but a line is normally a line.

DS1 was 5 months when I got a positive result for ds2, great age gap. A shock yes but you'll love it

ledodgy · 02/05/2007 10:13

Forgot to say Congratulations! Yes who are you? I'm newly pregnant too.

SparklyGothKat · 02/05/2007 10:14

get a first respone, this showed a postive 4 days before I was due on. I have heard that the digital ones need more HCG to geta result

PeachyChocolateEClair · 02/05/2007 10:16

Congrats ledodgy

pucca · 02/05/2007 10:17

Isn't it something to do with the levels of HCG? i remember someone saying to either test 1st thing in the morn, or wait at least 4 hours (or something like that) in between wee's.

If it was only 1 hr after doing the 1st test it prob wouldn't show.

Congrats

jdd0709 · 02/05/2007 10:26

The digital ones are rubbish as they are less sensitive so sounds like a positive to me!

thisisnotmyrealMNname · 02/05/2007 10:48

I have heard that a faint line can be just an "evaporation line" particularly if it's more grey than pink (or blue, depending what your test is). I think there's a website mentioned on another thread called peeonastick.com - lots of info about pregnancy tests.

Which answer do you want it to be??!! (Maybe we'll see you on the Jan thread...)

I hadn't heard that the digital ones were less sensitive - but i was so paranoid that it might be wrong when it said pregnant that I bought a cheap Asda test to double check!

Nemo2007 · 02/05/2007 10:51

ohh I would buy a clearblue digi as I had this with DD1 she showed positive, then negative then positive then negative but with clearblue digi it came up pregnant and for some reason I trusted it more..lol Was definetly pg as she is now 16mths.

megandsoph · 02/05/2007 10:52

Congrats

Not sure about the digi test I did one 5 days before AF was due and got a positive. Where as the chemist did one of the cheepy tests for me the same day and it was negative .

Runninglate · 02/05/2007 11:04

I've just done a second digital - I couldn't wait for DH after all. It's most preoccupying! It's negative but I must confess, I don't believe it. The first test I did last night wasn't a digital, it was a Boots own thingy and it was that one that was positive. I agree about the hcg levels needing time to build but i did think the digitals could pick it up. first response here i come!

Sorry to be boring but this is me .

Congratulations Ledodgy!!!

Peachy - I may well be coming back to you!!!!!!! Is it manageable????

runninglate..I have a 12mths gap between my girls and it is sooo much easier than the 2.2yr gap between ds and dd1. It will be fab. I would wait now until at least after tea time before testing again.

Runninglate · 02/05/2007 12:00

I've heard other people say that - a short age gap means that the elder one hasn't had the chance to realise they're a single child yet and are less traumatised by the new arrival and adopt them as a peer.

By the way - what's the verdict on when to test next? Should I really be waiting until the morning do you think?

You need the concentration of hormones to be high - that's why most tests suggest first thing. If you can't wait that long, I would suggest not going to the loo as long as poss to allow as concentrated a urine sample as you can.

jdd0709 · 02/05/2007 14:12

see www.peeonastick.com/hpts.html

lower numbers mean more sensitive hence the clearblue digital is less sensitive than the normal clearblue.

Runninglate · 02/05/2007 18:56

Oooh thank you. I have a first response in my possession and will be testing in a bit!

OP posts:
jdd0709 · 02/05/2007 19:31

ooh good luck - I think they are the most sensitive - I got a positive with that one when the others didn't come up with this pg on day period was due.

SparklyGothKat · 02/05/2007 20:11

oooooooooo good luck!! Have you peed on it yet??

Runninglate · 02/05/2007 20:14

I've just done it - negative! How wierd to get one positive though! I have to say that I do feel a bit disappointed but it's probably for the best with a such a small LO.
