Bleeding after bowel movement?

I'm 11w3d and just went to the toilet. I am quite constipated but afterwards there was bright red blood. I thought maybe it was coming from behind but the blood is actually from my vagina. There's no blood flow but it was bright red and there was quite a lot although seems to be nothing now. I spent last Friday at the EPU and really don't want to spend tomorrow there too. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Hiya first don't panic.

When your constipated you can rupture some blood capillaries in your vagina when straining - happens to me a lot but I would get checked out if it continues or gets heavier.

You are going to need to keep really hydrated and ask doctor for Laxido which you can use in pregnancy as it's not a laxative just a stool softner.

It works wonders for me as it just liquify everything and makes it easier to come out

The bleeejnt should stop and then probably go brown as it lessens.

I've had a fissure before so it actually split my muscle internally and that's a whole lot of pain you don't want.

Hope this helps, just get checked if worried as it's a common issue.

Thank you. That's reassuring. My food and water intake has been really poor (nausea) so I can totally understand why I'm constipated. I'll try and get an appointment with my GP.

Christ, pregnancy is just terrifying.

Hiya and yes it is.

Laxido is the better tasting one (orange) but Movicol is the same thing.

And Yeah, sickness can do that to your body and just make sure you sip constantly even if it's ice poles as it's still liquids. I have to have a can of Pepsi max in morning as it helps my nausea go away.

You can buy laxido over the counter and if you haven't been for a good while then follow the instructions for Impaction (8 satchet in water to be drunk in an hour).

You may get lactulose liquid as well - it didn't work for me but laxido does and quickly.

Good luck!
