Heart rate theory

So from what Ive read, when listening to your baby's heart rate anything over 140 suggests your having a girl?? Anyone tested this theory and is it effective?? First time baby for us and we're not finding our the sex but curiosity is slowly getting the better of me! X

We thought girl according to the heart beat theory but we're having a little boy 💙

Lj8893 · 15/02/2018 21:48

It's not true. I listen to baby's HRs day in, day out and many of them are over 140bpm and not all girls!

My twin boys heart beats this week were 138 and 150. So fail.

Interesting, thank you for the replies only 19 (hopefully) more weeks to go until he or she arrives ⭐

DDs heart rate was faster than DSs. The midwife commented on the speed of DDs but remained non-commital. So, yes, in my case it was true, but I think it was probably just coincidence.

My boys HB yesterday was 155, so nope.

Addy2 · 16/02/2018 07:17

There's no statistical difference between the two.

Penguin27 · 16/02/2018 07:22

DS's heart rate was always around 130. We didn't find out the sex but my midwife said that she thought she knew. After delivery, I asked her if she'd guessed boy and she said yes, when I asked why she said because of his heart rate.

DaisyLand · 16/02/2018 07:30

Keep going to get heart rate monitored cuz reduced movements. My baby within an hour does values of 110-160 which is what a normal baby hr should do. So this theory is just a lie really as all hearts will do the same

DaisyLand · 16/02/2018 08:58

Also to point out, normally below 140 is a baby resting, especially if the rate doesnt move much up and down, it goes up over 140-150 when baby moves or is excited (you just ate some sugar and his heart goes hype)

So really a fraction of a second in their life wont tell you what sex the baby is as it depends what the little one is doing when you listen to their heart rate, only will a scan or a chromosome test.

Yeah i've had around 6 ctgs in the last month so now i'm the ctg expert hahaha

My midwife said she'd put money on my bump being a girl because of the fast heartbeat. She was wrong!

Shaunieh95 · 16/02/2018 13:34

My boys heart rate was 132 :)

PenelopePickle · 16/02/2018 13:35

I'm having boy/girl twins and my boys heart rate is always higher than the girls
