Heartbeat & early scan

Hi everybody!
I am really anxious and paranoid so I want to pay for an early scan but I'm only 6.5/7 weeks pregnant. Will the heartbeat be detected at this stage? I feel like it would give me some peace of mind.
Thanks, Emma xx

Yes it should be. You're probably better off waiting till about 8 weeks to be absolutely sure but i know how hard it is to wait!

I know the early stage is difficult but to be honest I’m really glad I waited for my 12 week scan - found out then I was having twins and I would have spent the whole time worrying about vanishing twin syndrome etc if I’d found out early. As awful as it sounds, if there is an issue at this stage there’s nothing that can be done (I’ve been there and it’s awful), and a scan may tell you that the baby is fine on that day but I’m not sure it would stop you worrying between then and the 12 week scan.

I would hold out as long as you possibly can! You should be able to see the hb around 6 weeks but sometimes this isn’t the case if your dates aren’t 100% and this can just cause more worry. Congratulations xx
