Hi, how long have you all had to wait for your 12 week scan after your booking appointment?
I went to midwives feb 1st (two weeks today) and they said they worked it out i was 14 weeks and have a asap scan as am late. I understand that there is so many pregnant women as well but with it being my 1st thought i may have heard something by now. If they are right I'll be 16 weeks way past the 12 week mark. I know that i sound inpatient but me and my boyfriend just want to know everything is okay and that the baby is developing okay.

Do you have a number for your hospital birth suit? I have a sticker on my notes saying if you have not received your dating scan appointment by 12 weeks ring this number (which is the birthing centre at the hospital I’m book at). Might be worth giving them a call and explaining hopefully they can sort it out for you.

Ring the antenatal clinic (not ward or labour ward) and ask for advice. They can either book an appt asap if they scan at the clinic or they can ring the main scanning dept there and then and book it.

Thank you. I'll have a look. I just don't want to sound pushy as it's only been two weeks since my book in appointment.

It's really not pushy - you need to be booked in asap due to the structures they view being more accurate at around 12 weeks. They won't think anything of you ringing to chase it up :)

I would say the letter usually came about 2 weeks or so after booking appt. There's no harm in calling though especially as you are so late. I would also follow up directly with them about how to book your 20 week scan. Here we normally do that as we are leaving the 12 week scan, but as you will be quite late with your first scan, I would want to make sure both scans are booked asap. You may be able to do both over the phone if you push them to.

mindutopia · 15/02/2018 13:45

You should also have a 16 week appt set up. Do you have that booked already?

K9pal7 · 15/02/2018 16:14

Do you think if i ring early pregnancy assessment they'll put me through to antenatal clinic? Only one i can find for my local hospital

They should be on notes

You really need a scan asap. The nucal fold test for downs syndrome, is done at the 12 week (11-13 weeks usually) scan.

Can you go privately? Contact a private scanning clinic

Astrid2 · 15/02/2018 16:52

Phone your hospital switchboard and ask for antenatal clinic. you're really too late for the downs risk etc but there are blood tests you can have. They will still scan you but can't do all the usual checks.

K9pal7 · 15/02/2018 16:59

I have thought about going private just to put my mind at rest. That's the other reason am getting worried testing side of things

My midwife booked my scan at the booking appointment and I never got a letter. She rang them while I was there. I guess it's different everywhere. I'd definitely call them directly.

K9pal7 · 15/02/2018 17:39

I thought that she would have booked it when i was there but all she said was it'll come in the post. All i booked was my next appointment with her which is 8th March.
