Why aren’t there two white masses on my friends 7 week scan?

No one said anything as she was rushed in to see what was going on pregnancy wise.
She’s 7 weeks now.
Why are there two white masses?

Head and abdomen

It looks like the yolk sac and the fetal pole

Could be twins? Could be some sort of cysts? Hard to say. I had very early 6/7 week scans with dc1 years ago and he looked like Casper the ghost, sort of round head bit which tapered down. What was she told, is it a viable pregnancy?

I would agree with happy8 it looks like yolk sac and fetal pole.

Agree with Happy, my scan a about the same time looked similar.

The round one on the right looks like the yolk sac and the longer one on the left looks like the fetus.

I would agree with yolk sac and fetus, on my scan at 6 weeks + they were two distinct things

Yep, one is baby, one is the sac. The sac will disappear in a few weeks. All of my early scans have looked exactly the same.
