Weight gain too much?

I’m 30 weeks pregnant today and have so far out on 20lbs. I don’t think this is too much, as the guidelines say 25-35lbs is fine. However, whereas I have been putting on 0.8-1lbs per week, for the past two weeks I have put on 2lbs per week. My diet has always been fairly good (I do have a few treats now and then!) and it hasn’t changed at all; neither has my level of exercise or anything else.

Anyone know why I’m putting on more now? And should I worry about continuing at this rate or do you think it will slow down? I hope baby is just having a growth spurt or I am experiencing water retention (my feet do feel bigger and my shoes tighter), as opposed to putting on fat. If I continue to put on 2lbs per week for another 10 weeks, I’m going to be massive!

Because you are more pregnant? 2lbs is not significant, I really wouldn’t obsess about it. Your midwife will know if anything is up at your next appointment when she does your urine and measures your bump.

You sound ok to me. Maybe don't weigh yourself- I didn't weigh myself once when pregnant and still haven't now- daughter is 7 months old. Once baby comes you will lose water and feel much better 💐

You're pretty much exactly the same as me (29 weeks and 19lbs). I've had a couple of weeks where I've gained more and some where I haven't gained any, so think that baby is probably growing in its own way rather than at the exact same rate each week. I'm pretty sure it's normal to gain a bit more in the final trimester as baby is packing on fat. X

Honestly just stop weighing yourself. You’re perfectly healthy and it’s perfectly normal

It doesn't sound too bad to me. I've had weeks where I gained nothing or even lost 1-2lbs, then other weeks where I've gained 3lbs. I think it's fairly normal, but obviously mention it to your midwife if only to stop you worrying!

I think every pregnancy varies: with DS I gained almost 5 stone yet with my current pregnancy I've "only" gained 25lbs at 38 weeks. I have been almost exactly the same diet-wise for both pregnancies!
