Clearblue Digital - How accurate?

Please help. I POAS 3 weeks ago and got a BFP. I have PCOS and I’m not sure when I ovulated. Clearblue said at the time I was 2-3 weeks, supposedly around 5 weeks meaning by now I thought I would be 8 weeks pregnant.

I had an early dating scan today hoping to see a little bean with a heartbeat only to be see and be told I’m about 5 weeks and there is a sac and yolk. It was such a shock. can Clearblue be this inaccurate?

Yes, they can be very innacurate. I don't like clear blue, mine always come out negative when I'm defiantly pregnant. Just go by scan dates, they are more accurate

WhyTheHeckMe · 04/02/2018 14:00

Clearblue have always been very accurate for me. With my first and third pregnancies the weeks went up as and when I expected.

Unfortunately with my second pregnancy the weeks were very slow to go up. I eventually got to 3+ weeks when I was 6 and a bit weeks pregnant but then something made me do another a few days later and it had gone back to 1-2.
I went for an early scan at 7 weeks and they said all that was there was an empty sac and sure enough I quickly miscarried after this.

Just putting another spin on it, I don't meant to be negative. Hope everything works out for you.

Also if you got a bfp 3 weeks ago, you'd have been 4 weeks pregnant at this point (you conceive at week 2, the bfp shows up 2 weeks later give or take a few days). So if they're only dating you today at 5 weeks I would be a little cautious I'm afraid. Hope you are okay x

These are a bit of a nightmare! But they have always been accurate for me yes.

My first miscarriage I never went past 1-2 weeks but this pregnancy I progressed to 3+ in a week or so.

HOWEVER. I also think these tests are terrible. They pulled them in the States and I really think should pull them in the UK. Please just stop testing and see how things go. I really hope all is ok for you.

I'm supposed to be 6 weeks today but mine have gone back down from 2-3 to 1-2. Also having some spotting so waiting for the inevitable. I think it's good in a way as I was going to book an early scan next week but will wait on it now and save myself the £30 deposit. I think I'd rather know something wasn't right than be in blissful ignorance and find out at a scan after honking everything was fine...

rogermooresfifthwife · 04/02/2018 14:38

Thinking!

WhyTheHeckMe · 04/02/2018 14:44

Sorry to hear that Roger. The first trimester really should be renamed the worst trimester.

If things don't work out for you (fingers crossed they will) please don't be disheartened. I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and caught 3 weeks after I lost the baby and i know so many others that caught again within a month or 2 and went on to have very healthy pregnancies x

rogermooresfifthwife · 04/02/2018 14:47

Thank you - I just want it to be over with now as I'm on holiday next week and don't want to spend the whole week in limbo waiting for full on bleeding but not able to enjoy a glass of wine just in case! It is horrible isn't it!

WhyTheHeckMe · 04/02/2018 14:53

It really is horrible and for me it was a relief once the bleeding started as I knew it hadn't worked out as the dates just didn't add up! I only bled for about 5 days and it was just like a normal period, my body quickly returned to normal.
I hope you manage to enjoy your holiday :-)

Tobebythesea · 04/02/2018 15:35

It doesn’t look good. I suppose I’m just waiting to miscarry then.

Have you taken another one to see what it says now? If it's gone down from 2-3 that wouldn't be good but I guess if it's gone up you might have just been v strong v early? It means 2-3 weeks after conception, so it could still fit I think even if you're just 5 weeks now?

rogermooresfifthwife · 04/02/2018 15:45

Actually I think I'm wrong aren't I, if they're saying you're 5 weeks pregnant rather than 5 weeks from conception they mean 7 weeks from conception.

rogermooresfifthwife · 04/02/2018 15:46

Sorry, being a bit dense. I don't think it necessarily means it's not going to work out though, but it's a waiting game ☹️

Tobebythesea · 04/02/2018 15:58

It’s confusing but unfortunately I don’t think the dates work. I’m gutted. I wish you the best of luck Roger x

OP i also caught 5 weeks after my third miscarriage. Now 36 weeks. Much love and good luck. I'm so sorry if that is the case.

Tobebythesea · 05/02/2018 08:52

I’m sadly having a miscarriage. Thank you for your support.

Sorry to hear this Tobe.
Xx

WhyTheHeckMe · 05/02/2018 11:26

So sorry to hear this. I've been thinking of you. It's a horrible thing to go through regardless of how far along you are.
Look after yourself and take time off work to get your head around it too. I told my work and they gave me a week off paid. It really helped me having a bit if time to process it to then be able to move on.
Really sorry OP x
