Sickness in subsequent pregnancies

Morning,

Im not pregnant or even TTC at the moment but we are planning on this later in the year.

However, this is playing on my mind.......

In my first pregnancy i was terribly sick and nauseaus up to around 34 weeks. Wasnt HG stage but i was miserable. (bed bound between 6 and 10 weeks) and hated pregnancy due to feeling so rough.

Now i have my gorgeous daughter and it was all worth it. Im beginning to feel broody again but am dreading the sickness, especially with a toddler to look after.

Did anyone have horrible sickness first pregnancy but not subsequent pregnancies?

Please give me some hope! Lol

Thanks x

Mine was nowhere near as bad second time round, I still had 2 weeks of feeling really rough but I was mostly better by about 12 weeks. First time around I was ill even before I found out I was pregnant and it went on for much longer, I was off sick more than I worked. I didn't miss any work this time round, although I did have very well placed annual leave for the 2 weeks I was bad.
I think it's one of those things you just can't predict

mimipusscat · 04/02/2018 12:51

I had hardly any sickness first pregnancy , but this second one I'm still throwing up in week 31. Every pregnancy is different :-)

twobambinos · 04/02/2018 14:28

Mine was the same for the first and second. Vomiting from 4 weeks until birth. Both dds
This time nothing so far and am 6+weeks

Unfortunately no way to know.

Lilsquish · 04/02/2018 15:51

Ah, so no rhyme or reason then.

Will just have to keep fingers crossed :-)

With dd I had nausea right through from 6 weeks. Pregnant again, and again, bang on 6 weeks the sickness starts...😷 Im hoping it doesn't last all the way through again but who knows!

DramaAlpaca · 04/02/2018 15:56

Mine was worse with each pregnancy. Sorry, not what you want to hear!

Scoobysue10 · 04/02/2018 16:32

I had no sickness with my 1st. Just felt sick in the mornings and felt low throughout the pregnancy. .
I was very sick with my 2nd but felt fantastic.
I am 10wks pregnant with my 3rd and this one is a mixture of the previous 2.
Not so sick as 2nd and feeling sick alot like the first and a feeling a bit rubbish.

gryffen · 04/02/2018 17:45

No sickness or nausea with my first in 2014 but I'm now very friendly with the porcelain telephone now 😂.

All we can do is accept it in our stride and beg for help when needed.

BigBaboonBum · 04/02/2018 18:56

My first was absolutely dreadful, my second was much easier (other than headaches, heartburn and SPD... but it was a much easier ride), third pregnancy has been a breeze other than SPD. Felt a bit sick but mostly it was because I was super sensitive when it came to dirt or even dust... which has gone now I’m 25 weeks

BigBaboonBum · 04/02/2018 18:57

Well it wasn’t dreadful as I was able to walk around and my body didn’t feel it, however hyperemisis and headaches were just miserable most of the time. Headaches just became a part of life during first pregnancy

Changedmynameo · 04/02/2018 18:59

First pregnancy severe HG. Hospitaled at around 35 weeks. (With a girl)
Second, severe HG but died off around 30 weeks (with boy)

Tfoot75 · 04/02/2018 19:06

Mine was just as bad if not worse second time, though I did have medication second time which helped me not to actually be sick as much. So just to say get some medicine if you didn’t first time round, it doesn’t need to be hg to make you need it.

Lilsquish · 04/02/2018 19:56

Congrats NK. Hope it eases soon.

Oh no drama!!! Def not what i want to hear :-@

Il def go down the med route if it was to happen again!

I'm on pregnancy number three, I had two exceptionally easy pregnancies. This one? I have had morning sickness non stop, have SPD, am absolutely bloody knackered & my hormones are sky high.

I think i stock piled my symptoms for this one 😂

Changedmynameo · 04/02/2018 20:10

To anyone suffering, ask for ondansetron

mustbemad17 · 04/02/2018 20:17

Change does that make you sleepy? I had to come off cylclizine because it knocks me out 😂

Changedmynameo · 04/02/2018 20:23

I was given it in both pregnancies and can’t say I noticed it making me tired

mustbemad17 · 04/02/2018 20:24

Thank you, might see about switching

HanaK88 · 04/02/2018 20:24

Ds1 - nausea, Ds2&3 - nothing, DD1 - mild nausea, DD2 - horrendous nausea and vomiting!

Justanotherzombie · 04/02/2018 20:26

I was as bad all 4 times. Horrific. But I became much better at coping with it. Just facing each day and knowing it would end.

Changedmynameo · 04/02/2018 20:33

mustbemad it’s prescribed to chemo patients to treat their nausea so pretty effective! Good luck
