Blurred Vision

I'm nearly 38 weeks, have a high risk pregnancy and I've got horribly blurry vision.

I don't have pre-eclampsia-I was checked out fully last week (bloods, urine, BP, scan) and I'm assuming no GD as GTT was clear and urine again is regularly tested.

Is there any other reason my vision could be so blurry? I feel reasonably well (apart from horribly swollen feet and severe SPD) but I can't do a fucking thing and I'm so depressed.

Any tips to stop it? Why is it happening?

This has been a truly hideous pregnancy and I feel like I'm not going to survive the last weeks Sad

I get blurred vision before a migraine. If I was you I'd get an emergency appointment via 111 to get checked over again.

I suffer from migraines too but this definitely isn't one.

I can be seen my maternity triage anytime - my hospital are very good so I'll call and talk to them but I seriously doubt anything has changed.

Definitely get checked out again. My blood pressure and urine were perfect throughout my pregnancy but I still ended up with pre-eclampsia

I've got PIH and I'm medicated. I've got a home monitor and BP is perfect - 129/78.

Can you be diagnosed with PE with normal BP and no protein?

Please ring triage. I assumed you don’t have urine dipsticks? You’ll be asked straight in with those symptoms on top of PIH.

Merryoldgoat · 04/02/2018 00:11

I don't have dip sticks - I thought I'd get obsessive.

I'll call them and hopefully they'll be ok to let me come in the morning.

Baby is very active so I know he's ok in there right this second.

Sorry I'm not sure what PIH is.

My pregnancy was high risk (twins) but at no point was my midwife worried about PE. I had puffy legs but my blood pressure was consistent at 110/60 from booking in to induction day (38 weeks) and there was never any protein in my urine.
After my twins were born, I was very poorly. On the forms they wrote late onset pre-eclampsia with pulmonary oedema. Turns out I'd had fluid on my lungs and around my heart. I, and both my midwife & consultant, had no idea.
Fingers crossed there is nothing wrong, but based on my experience you can never be too careful!

Xennialish · 04/02/2018 00:19

I’m glad you don’t have dipsticks tbh, don’t want to delay the blurred vision being checked out by reassuring yourself with minimal or no protein.

Merryoldgoat · 04/02/2018 00:23

Yellow - PIH is pregnancy induced hypertension so I'm on medication to control my bp but I'm on the lowest dose and it's been great all the way through on these tablets.

Ok. I'll go to Day Assessment Unit tomorrow morning.

I've had a google and it does say that some people just have blurred vision that corrects after pregnancy so let's hope it's just that.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Get checked out OP, PE is a funny thing and can flare up really quickly. I had PIH that was being controlled by drugs but then went on to develop PE post natally.

PIH plus blurred vision at 38 weeks is definitely something to get checked out I think. Fingers crossed its nothing and then you can relax.

Merryoldgoat · 04/02/2018 11:17

I've woken up and vision is absolutely fine now.

I spoke to triage and they told me to go in anytime I want. I'll go shortly for a quick urine and BP check.

I suffer with idiopathic intercranial hypertension which is made worse in pregnancy, this leads to my vision being blurred alot. I'm not saying it is this but I'd go to the opticians and ask them to heck the pressure behind your eyes to be safe.

I also second migraines too. It could be the start of an ocular migraine. They are weird. I suffer them and get the blurred vision, flashing lights, pins and needles on my tongue. Try to get to your GP to get checked
