I'm 16 weeks pregnant at the moment and all is going ok....HG has subsided a bit now....but.....

I can't pee!
My bladder is full but I can't get more than a trickle out.
It's really uncomfortable and where I am sitting at work all day I am going off to per 5 times an hour with nothing really happening.

I got home last night crying because my bladder was so full and after 30 mins of sitting on the loo rubbing my belly I managed to get enough out to feel more comfortable.
Had a bath, did a lil dance around and rubbed belly more and pee'd normally.
Now today it's starting to happen again.

Anyone know what I can do to stop this while I am sitting down? I have been walking around every hour to try and been rubbing my belly but it just doesn't ease off till i can lay down

Help!

I’d call your midwife, they may want to test for uti, just in case.

Toomuchsplother · 01/02/2018 15:49

You need to get checked out. If you haven't got a UTI then you will end up with one. Good luck

unicorncow · 01/02/2018 16:00

Sounds like a urine infection, you need to phone GP ASAP

Kitcat159 · 01/02/2018 16:10

I had my urine tested 2 days ago at a&e and they said it's all fine no infections or anything.
Yesterday I started feeling like this and today is starting to get bad.
If I am laying down I'm fine. Just crunched up at my desk is bad

It sounds daft but try putting a few drops of peppermint essential oil in the toilet . Also I've heard having your feet in warm water can help , maybe try weeing in the bath ? Agree you should be checked out though

Gierg · 01/02/2018 16:18

If they say it isn't a UTI, I'd still go get checked again... not being able to wee can't be good whatever is causing it!

Kitcat159 · 01/02/2018 16:27

Googled it (I know, bad idea) and apparently it's when the baby is sitting on the urethra so the bladder is full but can't come out as the tube is being quashed nice
I'll try peppermint later and see if that helps
And I'll try putting feet in warm water too.
The latest 2 hrs of work has been so painful and I feel really nauseous.
Hope the last hour and the drive home goes quick!

I have an appt on Tuesday anyway so I'll tell them then if it's no better. Hoping it will ease at the weekend cos I'm not working.

I wouldn't have thought the size of a 16week baby would cause any probs regarding pressure on the bladder or urethra?

I think u either have cystitis or an infection.

LostMyBaubles · 01/02/2018 16:34

Could be the baby as you said.

I couldn't wee at all no drops or anything
And it was because of a blood clot (around the size of palm) That was putting pressure on everything else.
You need to get checked asap
Old urine is breeding ground for bacteria

gryffen · 01/02/2018 17:21

Sounds a little like Cystitis or Interstitial cystitis which can be horrible and painful.

When I had IC it didn't come up with an infection marker but when I started having incredible sharp pain when peeing the most tiny amount it was diagnoses.

Go back and get another opinion and they can swab if needed.

CheeseOnToastMmm · 01/02/2018 17:25

I’d get seen tonight if I was you. I had this with both my pregnancies and had to self catheterise until they were born.

augustbabyx · 01/02/2018 18:57

Doctors/a&e immediately.

bebehen · 01/02/2018 22:27

@kitcat Let me know what they say!
I'm 17+6 and for the last week i've been finding its taking double length of time to pee, just really slow flow (tmi?!) thinks it's a bit weird, but this is my first pregnancy so really don't know what to expect from it!
Hope you feel better and get some answers :)

Kitcat159 · 02/02/2018 11:21

So update
When I got home yesterday I was full again but couldn't go.
After about an hour of laying down I was able to wee normally. Woohoo
This morning was fine/normal.
Now I feel fok again and can't go. Just a few drops.
I'm trying to leave work and get an appt with my gp but managers are all in meetings.
It's not as bad as yesterday yet but I don't want it to get to that point. I just want to cry.

It's so uncomfortable it's making me feel really sick.

Bless you. Can you not ring your midwife/ local unit for advice?

snapple21 · 02/02/2018 11:30

You need to be seen urgently. You could be experiencing urinary retention which can damage your bladder. You need to go to a walk In centre - have your urine dipped again and a bladder scan. (I am a midwife).

Kitcat159 · 02/02/2018 13:32

Got an emergency appt this afternoon so I will let you all know what happens.

Kitcat159 · 02/02/2018 17:09

Took the afternoon off sick. Much to my works unamusement. Got emergency doctor appointment.
Pee tested (the tiny amount I could manage) all fine no infection. Heart rate is good so no signs of dehydration or infection.
Examined my stomach, which was fairly painful.
Told to go and drink 3 litres during the day tomorrow. If I can't pee 2 litres I have to go to a&e to be referred to the epic for a bladder scan.

I know you said you been GP and not sure if been mentioned but I had this a few times and to ease it I lay on the floor with my legs on the sofa for a bit and it seemed to shift the baby so I could pee effectively Blush

snapple21 · 03/02/2018 23:53

How are you OP?
