Has anyone had any experience of getting BFP's but then bleeding 5 days later (similar to and same time as AF but slightly lighter, still with some clots and fresh red blood) but it only lasts 2 days at around 4-5 weeks??? Have you gone on to still be pregnant or is this an early miscarriage?

Hi @deepop I’m not sure I can give the best advice but I know any response is better than none as waiting for a reply can seem like forever !
So All I would say is from my experience of being on here I see that some women bleed and it can be they go on to have healthy pregnancies, although there’s always that uncertainty with bleeding that it may not continue. Best advice I could offer would be to maybe try and book in with your local early pregnancy unit? They would be able to get you in for an early scan to see what’s going on for you.
If not, maybe retest in a few days or a week?

Thank you @Hope18
I had kind of put it to the back of my mind and just thought about leaving it to Mother Nature as thought it wasn't meant to be but then get the odd thought of what if I still am! It's been such an emotional rollercoaster. From what I've read bleeding similar to AF is a bad sign. I don't know what's best to do! X

@deepop I think contact EPU or gp.. then you will able to get more of a definate answer.. you don’t want to eat yourself up waiting and wondering.. and if they say it’s best just to see what happens in a week and re test or something then at least you know x

I always bled around period time in the first few months pretty normal

deepop · 31/01/2018 21:51

@mumznet thanks for your reply! Was it similar to a period? I've had bad cramps too x

nothing to worry about with slight bleeding but you can mention it to your midwife. only time of concern is if its very heavy bleeding.

mumznet · 31/01/2018 22:08

at times mine was like a light period

justtowarm · 31/01/2018 22:20

With my son, I had light bleeding but with quite big clots (size of a 50p) from about 5-10 weeks of pregnancy, he is a happy 2 year old Now. I had three early scans while they were trying to identify where the bleed was coming from but they never found it. My GP referred me to the early pregnancy unit at the time and they said if there are clots they like to do a scan. the clots were like 5-20p size. I hope this helps :)

deepop · 31/01/2018 22:24

@justtowarm yes really appreciate your response! I'm pleased it worked out for you!! I've just read so many different things so one all of my symptoms are signs of a chemical pregnancy but then others say have had a healthy pregnancy after bleeding! I suppose I should wait and see xx

I think it is about waiting and seeing. the scans were reassuring to a degree but they only tell you the baby is ok there and then. It's worth asking your gp if you can have one if it continues purely for a bit of reassurance the worry is not good. Hoping it all goes well for you :)

mumznet · 01/02/2018 21:02

I had my scan done at the hospital and the nurse there said it was silly that the midwives sent me there and it was nothing to worry about.

because I had that scan around 4-5 weeks I didn't have the 12 weeks scan. Too many scans should not be done really.

mumznet · 01/02/2018 21:05

I felt I had to use my own common sense during pregnancy and do my own research. midwives were helpful at times but some times they don't give a clear/direct answer and they can make a person worried.
