BFP!! What happens next?

Hi ladies!

Started TTC in September last year and had a miscarriage at 5weeks. Started TTC again straight away and this month we used Preseed for the first time and we got our BFP with a FRER yesterday!!

Obviously we didn’t get far last time but what happens next? We have a 10yr old so it’s been a long time!

Any help please?

If you aren't already, start taking folic acid.

Call your surgery and ask to refer to the midwife for your booking in, when you are 8 weeks.

I phoned the docs the next day after finding out - I wasn't sure what to do either, but they booked me straight in with the midwife that week. I know a lot of people say the midwife won't see you until you are 8 weeks but I didn't even get asked how far along I was (I didn't know anyway and still don't due to some confusion with the dates)! If I am as far along as I think I am, I would have seen the midwife at about 6/7 weeks.

My local hospital has an antenatal section on their website, this has an online self referral form. I filled in my details and few days later I got 3 appointment letters - booking in at 9 weeks, dating scan at 3 months, and 20 week health scan.

At the booking in appointment the midwife will usually give you a list of the weeks she’d like to see you at an antenatal clinic (from about 16 weeks I think) and you can book them all in in advance.

Start taking folic acid!!
