Oh my god I think I’ve made a terrible oversight........is it safe to eat smoked bacon while pregnant???? I love bacon always eat it - I’m six weeks pregnant- my third pregnancy my other two have resulted in miscarriage could this be why? I’m not unhealthy I remove the fat and very often but the healthy eating medallions ?????

Yes it’s safe. Why do you think it isn’t?

Are you.... cooking the bacon?
When the NHS says smoked food, they mean like smoked salmon where it hasn't been cooked. Smoked bacon is completely utterly fine because it's cooked. Relax.

You can eat smoked salmon in pregnancy now too. Anything that’s cooked is fine. Even the banned cheeses and meats are fine if they have been thoroughly cooked. Don’t panic. Unless you are the bacon raw, of course!

Thank you ever so much for the reassurances ladies, it’s only because I’d come across this on line (damn google!!) and it had me worried! Phew!!!

The first line is “The short answer is yes; you can enjoy bacon during your pregnancy. Well-cooked bacon is OK to eat during your pregnancy, with a few exceptions.”
