Help me with my sling buying

So I've finally decided on what sling I'm going to get for my baby due very soon. It's the baby k'tan and I LOVE the look of it and have just spent all evening reading reviews & watching videos on it..and know how important it is to get the right size so I'm not left with extra space causing the sling to not be fitting and safe for baby.
Gone to order and originally thought I'd get the medium as I'm a size 12.. but then realised the chest measurements are massive? I wear a 34FF bra.. so based on the chest measurements I should get a small? As that's up to 38" and the medium is 39-42". Which size should I get?

Oh, so I've just realised baby brain that the number on your bra is inches UNDER your boob, so I'd need to take my boobs into consideration which would definitely add some inches. Still undecided which size though

I couldn’t get on with the k’tan. Better IMHO to get a humble stretchy wrap which can easily accommodate your changing shape post birth.

Is there a sling library near you?

You may be able to go and try on. Also there is the baby wearing faceboom group.

I would wait until after you've had your baby and try slings on with your baby before buying.

I agree with loose mouse. Try to get to a sling library or you may make a pricey mistake.

I thought I'd love a caboo, ticked all my boxes. Borrowed from SL and hated it. They were able to let me try several others til I found one i was really happy with

I’m here to agree with everyone else - please don’t buy a sling now. You may have a particularly long/short baby or one who hates to be carried in a certain position so I’d always recommend going to a sling library. I thought I’d like a close caboo but ended up with a child who is super long and wriggly, so even when I tried them at 8 days old I was better with a Beco Gemini

I'd definitely wait and try to get to a sling meet once your baby has arrived. I believe most will let you rent them to give them a proper try and some offer a discount if you decide to buy.

I have an Ergobaby which I do love but I wish I'd tried on more first as the straps are just a teeny bit too wide for me.

I expect the chest measurements are actually around your breasts. Not your bra size (which is usually measured under the boobs). This is to account for breast size. I would assume that unless is says otherwise somewhere in the measuring guide. I'm a size 16 and I would get a large (don't have a K'tan, but I have a moby wrap, which is the same, just different brand) and there is no way my under bra measurement is 44". I'm a 36" in bra size. But probably would be closer to 44-46" when cup measurements are taken into account. As you're a FF (I'm a DD), I would assume the medium would probably fit you, but you could always go to a sling meet near you and ask if they can give you some advice or at least email the peer supporter to ask them what they'd recommend.

I wouldn't necessarily be put off by the advice not to buy before your baby arrives. We got a moby wrap before our daughter was born (same as K'tan really) and loved it. It will take some practice, but you can get support from the sling meet for that. It was a godsend in the early weeks. No way I could have made it out to a sling meet before I really needed it. It's now about to be used for baby #2.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the advice but I really do need a sling as soon as the baby's here as I have a toddler that I need my hands for! If it doesn't suit me or baby I can always return/sell it and look elsewhere.
Thank you utopia I had that breast realisation shortly after posting! I think il go for medium x

I know my local library has dolls you can try slings on with so you can try them on in pregnancy.

I have been given through friends a caboo, connecta and an ergo.
