Eye infection

I am 5+6 ,I've had a cold and now have an eye infection. My eye feels really sore. I would normally buy "infected eye drops" over the counter from the pharmacy but I've read that chloramphenicol isn't ok in pregnancy.
If I go to the dr can they prescribe something else?
Thanks for anyone's words of wisdom!

You can most likely just treat it by cleaning it regularly with a cloth and warm water. I get eye infections all the time (product of having a young child who is always coughing in my face). I've never used anything on it either over the counter or prescription. Usually several days of regular cleaning and it's fine. It's very likely viral. It's like a cold of the eye and it doesn't usually need treatment, but keeping it clean and giving it time, like a cold, usually does it.

I've been prescribed antibiotic eye drops in pregnancy - you just need to see your gp.

To add to what pp said, an eye infection can be viral (in which case keeping it clean, comfort drops etc. is the most you can do) or bacterial. If it's bacterial, you should get antibiotics.
