Gym with bump

Morning sickness has now passed and I'm feeling human enough to get back in the gym. I used to do free weights a couple of times a week but haven't been for 2 months now.

How have you changed your gym routine since becoming pregnant?

I'm keen to stay reasonably toned although i know not to do anything that involves laying on my back or twisting movements and I'll be sticking to light weights. Just interested to know what people do now and get some ideas.

Are there any bloggers or instagram pages to follow?

A girl my cousin knows - Jade Katy - she goes to gym with bump. Know she's on you tube so may have some vids

Our gym requires you by membership and insurance to tell them you are pregnant - failure to do so results in instant withdrawal of membership and insurance cover - and that's for all gym activities including swimming.

Maybe mention to them and take it slow to start with and then build up but it's great to exercise while bump in action!

I got an instructor to put together a safe plan of exercises and I do that plus xtrainer. I am 32w with twins and it is fine.

I had a break from the gym when I felt very tired early on. I've since gone back to spinning and circuits. I told my instructors and they have said how important it is to monitor your heart rate and adapt certain exercises . No abs or heavy weights above your head, adjust your squat position etc. I'm not pushing myself like I used to, just trying to keep ticking over. I have found that I ache a lot more (possibly due to ligaments etc stretching) and my recovery time is longer. At the minute I'm just doing two sessions a week. I think you know how you feel, it's not the time push yourself. Just do what you feel comfortable with 🙂
