Please tell me it's safe, I feel horrific and paracetamol is doing nothing, it's just a bad cold but I want get much needed sleep to recover as I can't breathe!!!

The packaging doesn't say you can't

Please give me good news Grin

if it contains camphor (sp?) you shouldn't use it. check the leaflet.

Northernbeachbum · 27/01/2018 18:27

Ok I'll check for that

It doesn't say you can't use it like day and night nurse do, but the pharmacist was very much along the "only paracetamol and steam inhalation" lines and refused to comment on anything else

Absolutely fine.

Thishatisnotmine · 27/01/2018 18:30

I sniffed it during both my pregnancies. Then tasted, lickred a bit and 'treated' myself to eating a little bit each day Blush. Odd craving that one!

Coffeeorginplease · 27/01/2018 18:32

I used it nearly daily for the final 6 months of my pregnancy as was the only thing that helped my pregnancy related rhinitis! I had no problems at all and couldn’t find any evidence it was had to use during pregnancy!

Ragusa · 27/01/2018 18:33

It contains camphor and eucalyptus. As long as you don't eat it or put it on your mucous membranes I'm sure it will be fine. There is a whole lot of rubbish around chemicals in pregnancy. I can't find any RCT or retrospective studies online that say camphor is bad in pregnancy.

Noloudnoises · 27/01/2018 18:34

I don't know but oilbas oil dropped on a muslin hung near the bed helped me with a recent cold.

Northernbeachbum · 27/01/2018 18:42

@thathatisnotmine that made me laugh a lot Grin

Awesome thank you all for the good news, you've made my evening!!!

It's fine. I developed a serious craving for smelling Vicks when I was pregnant with my twins. I smelt it morning, noon and night and even took a pot in my bag when I went out! (I still enjoy sniffing it now - 4 years later!). Don't worry.

Wakeuptortoise · 27/01/2018 18:44

I used it due to constricted nasal airways. Dc are almost alright. Maybe. Wink (Both alive, thriving and too bright for their own good).

nik1985 · 27/01/2018 20:26

I used it last week as had a horrendous cold - pharmacist said it was fine. However I now have a massive aversion to it and feel nauseous at the sight of the bottle 🤢

BigBaboonBum · 27/01/2018 21:08

It’s safe

HerSymphonyAndSong · 27/01/2018 21:12

Chewing airwaves gum a couple of times a day really helped me with a recent cold

Pigletthedog · 27/01/2018 21:30

Saline nasal spray is really good for pregnancy rhinitis and when you have a cold. It's about £8 a canister from boots but it lasts ages X

catchyjem · 27/01/2018 21:36

I was advised by a pharmacist to only use vapour rub suitable for kids. I used the boots one, it was good.

Having just found the Olbas Oil for dd: Olbas Oil! It works well on a tissue near your bed or in a diffuser or oil burner.
