So this morning I received an outpatient appointment in obstetrics letter. I have only Isit had my 12 week scan 3 days ago, and booked my 20 week scan which is in two months. So why have I got this letter? Just slightly worried because when I had my scan they said everything seems fine with the baby and everything is as it should be for at 12 weeks so what's with the letter? I do have PCOS bit my midwife said id see a gynaecologist after my 20 week scan which is two months away yet....

Anybody else had this?

Isn’t that just your 16 weeks appointment letter or 20 weeks scan letter?
I know when there was a problem with my 12 weeks they called me on the phone the very next day and didn’t wait to send a letter. You can contact the antenatal appointments on Monday and ask what’s it about

I received one yesterday, mine is simply because I have previous medical conditions that need monitoring and I have had 2 previous c sections. If your worried give then a call on Monday and ask what it's about. Xx

It’s just antenatal clinic completely normal I’ve had one around 16weeks for every pregnancy :)

Ask your midwife-she should have explained if you were on an obstetric pathway??

Daphne33 · 27/01/2018 17:35

I received one too after being deemed by my midwife at the booking appt to be low-risk and on a midwife-pathway.
I did enquire at the hospital and they said for my area, they are trying to schedule every pregnant woman to have 1 obstetric consult is all, should be nothing to worry about.

To add, I received the letter day before my first NHS 12wk scan, and the obstetric consult is scheduled for the same day as my 16wk midwife appt.

I've received a letter like this as well which worried me. I received it before my 12 week scan. I'm thinking it's because I have a high BMI therefore it's just routine to have one of these appointments if there is any cause for concern at all. Understand this could be due to a range of things such as previous miscarriages, age, weight and any health conditions. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, you're just getting a bit of extra care to make sure everything continues to go smoothly :)

I had a letter sent out to me the same day as my 12 week scan too. My midwife was able to explain why (due to a previous medical condition I'd had as a child). I went to see the consultant once and got signed off so I'm now back on midwife led care. They don't ever seem to put any information in the letter they send out...
