So growth scan was today. All. Measured OK. Was in and out within 5 mins. Approx weight 5lb3 **are these accurate for weight?

Blood results for shortness of breath, low iron. It's dropped to 96. Only. Figures she gave but said HB low, Stores low, feratin low.. Despite taking supplements so being referred for an iron transfusion.. Has anyone had this.? What does it entail?

I had an iron infusion just after I gave birth and have several since. It doesn't take very long at all, maybe half an hour tops. They just put a cannula in your arm and set the drip up. It's very painless and easy and if you're anything like me you'll feel an awful lot better afterwards.

Please start taking spa tone or floradix ASAP it really does get the iron into your system better than heavy duty iron tablets!

I had an iron infusion during my first pregnancy. Cannula and ran over about 30-60mins then I went home. Worked a treat and my HB was about 91 after weeks of supplements

Same takes up to an hour, no side effects made a huge difference

Spatone, Floridex and the like are gentler because they contain less iron than a decent medical dose.

If someone is being offered an infusion on the NHS there is a reason. Personally I would bite their hand off, all done quickly and easily. I would love one but my bloods aren't low enough. You must be feeling awful!

I've heard you have a nurse with you while having it done to watch out for you.

Good luck and get it done.

Thanks for your replies.
I've been on liquid iron as couldn't stomach the tablets.. Been on them along with multi vits as advised for 20 weeks and still dropping.. I asked about spatone and midwife said as I only have 6 weeks left they'd want to do something that will get into my system as at the moment I won't be allowed MLU due to stores? I'm a bit clueless when it comes to numbers and it was a quick call to. Say she was referring me..
I have no. Issue with it being done.. I look forward to being able to breathe easily without gasping for breath and not feeling so weak and drained..
Makes me more glad I gave up work early as never would of coped lol xx
