Sharp pains low down - 15+5 weeks

I've had two previous MMC detected at 12 weeks, so this pregnancy whilst exciting is fraught with anxiety.

I'm having a worry because I'm getting some sharp pains low down. They come and go. So there can be nothing for 15 minutes then I get this pain which radiates, but literally for seconds and disappears. I don't know if it's just stretching or something I should be worried about.

This sounds really silly, but I listened to a podcast yesterday for 2 hours (car journey) and it was hysterically funny so made me laugh for most of the duration. So I'm also wondering if it's muscular pain from all the laughter and I'm over thinking everything!

Best advice - call your midwife!

I had pelvic girdle pains with ds3 and it felt like horrific stabbing pains. But just to be safe, call your midwife and check in 😊

You're right, I'll call them. Thanks for replying.

I have weird pains low downish also. Mine would be sort of just above the groin if you stood and put your hands there either side and then in the bladder area. I think it is round ligament type pain as I get it from laughing, moving certain ways... I guess ways that exert a pulling force on those areas and also if my bladder is full or I have just emptied it.

All pelvic girdle pains are different, I also had symphisis pubic dysfunction, feeling like I was being split in two in my pubic bone. All have symptoms that include feeling sharp stabbing pains that are worrying.

Always call the midwife first, don't symptom check online... I had 7 MCs before having 3 healthy children. The one thing I was told by a MW was if something doesn't feel right, just call. Follow that!

I called the midwife and she's said it's very hard to tell, but if there is no bleeding, loss of water or my tummy isn't hardening that it's possibly one of those unexplained pregnancy things, but to keep an eye on it.

She's suggested I also get to the doctors to get my urine checked and also discuss and issue I had at my 12 week scan where I struggled to completely empty my bladder.

I’m having something similar and spoke to the midwife this morning and she said it all sounds very normal and just to keep an eye on it.

had these regularly, with me they were just round ligament pain

No urine infection, but the doctor has said that my uterus is pushing forward so he suspects there was a rapid growth spurt and it’s stretching my section scar. So I’m getting pain from that and pain from everything growing. Seemed to make sense to me and anxiety has vastly improved.
