Got pregnant whilst exclusively breastfeeding? I really doubt that I am...but I've convinced myself (due to that weird tight feeling in the pit of your stomach that happens in early pregnancy) that I could be. My baby is 8 months & taking solids but I'm still feeding on demand & I my periods haven't returned yet.

Has anyone had a similar situation & found out they were pregnant?

Yes my DM did.

She specifically warned me against using it as a reliable form or contracteption.

Despite EBF my periods returned when DD was 8 weeks old. It's not a hard and fast guarantee.

The only way to know for sure is POAs Grin

Unless you are breastfeeding every three hours, including through the night, it doesn't work as contraception. And even if you are, it's not 100% reliable. It definitely isn't reliable once you introduce solids. You might want to test!

You aren't exclusively breastfeeding if your baby is eating solids.

You can get pregnant anyway whilst ebf.

My GM did three times.

OK, thanks.

I meant exclusively breastfeeding as in no formula.

Exclusively breastfeeding means that you are your baby's only source of nourishment, I think, as detailed above.

Poas? Flowers

Yes, I might have to, Brutus.

I should have said that I know, of course, it's possible...but I was just wondering how common - or rare - it is & if anyone has had any experience themselves of getting pregnant, whilst breastfeeding, having not had a period in 18 months.

I think it's very unlikely that I am. But I guess POAS is on my To Do list in the next day or two!

It looks like lots of pps' relatives have experienced it! I don't know for a fact but my nana probably did as she had seven children with quite close age gaps, no contraception. Good luck with getting whatever result you want!

Thanks Brutus. I think I'd be in shock a bit as we have 6 - all planned - and although we'd both be totally over the moon...this one wouldn't be!

I think we've both decided that we're done! So whilst another would be loved & adored, it certainly isn't in the plan!
