Why does time go so slowly first trimester?!

Am 5+3 today with second pregnancy (first ended in MMC in August at 9.5 weeks). Last time, and even more so this time, this early stage is going SO slowly.

Being scanned at 7+2, dreading it but also wanting it to come around so I can see if everything's ok. But time appears to be standing still.

Meanwhile im exhausted and finding it hard to cope with work.

Anyone else out there feeling the same?!

Yep. I’m pregnant with 2nd child very early about 6 weeks. I really bloody hate the 1st trimester. I’ve got no symptoms yet so I can’t help but worry. I had a m/c 1st time around to. It drags and drags. I’ve known over 2 weeks so it feels like I should be further along. I’m wondering if I’ll hold out til 12 weeks without paying for a scan!

I completely agree! I’m pregnant with 1st child, 9 weeks today and time seems to be going SO slowly. Only good thing is I have a few things to look forward to in the next few weeks: midwife appointment on Friday morning and NIPT on 07th Feb, then NHS scan on 20th Feb. I’m finding it difficult to get excited when I don’t know if everything is OK inside me!! Keep strong, ladies! xxx

I could have written your post coastalchick. I'm 6 +4 after a mmc at 10 weeks last September. Was at GP today so she said she'll ask the hospital to see me as soon as possible. Part of me hopes they'll see me soon as I would love some reassurance everything is ok, part of me is absolutely dreading it. Hope all goes well, and quickly, for everybody.

I’m 7+3 and have known since 3+4. It feels like I’ve been pregnant 6mths!! I’ve also had a lot of pain since I’ve found out, so I think that’s making the time go even slower!

It goes on and on doesn't it. My second trimesters flown by and now settling down for the third.

I think the tiredness is so overlooked at this point but it's so hard Flowers

The third trimester is the worst lol. This week alone has lasted about 3 years!

Oh god!!!! You'd think by now they'd have invented a way to make babies cook quicker than 9 months!!!

I'm having reassurance at 7+2, then presuming all well, NIPT at 10 (though might pay for another cheeky scan in between), then the 12 week.

No bugger tells you at school that TTC and pregnancy is going to be like this!!!

The first trimester was by far the worst for me - time crawled and I felt awful. I've really enjoyed my third trimester - 40+1 and although I'm ready for her to come out now, it's still been a much more pleasant experience than those first 14 weeks!

The last 29w have been the longest of my life. And I’m sure the coming 11 won’t be any quicker.

@coastalchick lol at least we're not as bad as elephants! They're pregnant for 3 years apparently lol

I played the sims the other day and my sim got pregnant and had the baby 3 days later and I was actually upset lmao! So jealous!

Urgh it's so true! I'm now 20w with DC2 after a MC and MMC earlier this year. I found out really early and the first trimester draggedddddd. I had an app and obsessively looked at it a million times a day as if it was suddenly going to say 'You are 12 weeks pregnant'.

Am pleased to say that for me, the second trimester is really speeding past, although I know from previous experience that the last few weeks of the third tri feel like a million years!

I tell you what, it goes slower with the 3rd trimester!! I thought the first 12 weeks were slow and am now just ticking off the days!

Love the comparison to elephants - I already feel like one!

Frustrated as am so hormonal and keep bursting into tears and as boss doesn't know he doesn't understand why!!!

I am a FTM and the first trimester went so slowly, it was like being tortured, especially with the sickness and nausea as well as the exhaustion and weird abdominal pains. The second trimester does seem to be going a lot quicker, which both pleases me and makes me panic a bit thinking about all the things we need to do.

Have to agree about the 3rd trimester, like others have said, counting down the days (31+1). I have completely had enough (late loss at 22 weeks in previous pregnancy probably not helping). Also, I have 2 dcs to look after this time; planning their care for when I go into hospital to give birth has proved a military operation in itself!

Yep, I feel the same. Miscarried at 6 weeks with my first and now I'm 10+5 (ish?) and waiting for my 12 week scan has seemed like an age. They wouldn't scan me early, so I have spent the last 4 weeks just praying for symptoms! The first 3 months drag horrendously and I think it's a combination of waiting for the all clear, waiting to tell people so you can plan and waiting to show. I found not tracking your progress helps. I was on my app constantly with my first, checking how far along I was and watching progress videos. I haven't bothered this time and it seems to be going quicker as I am not 'clock watching'! As soon as I had my 12 week scan date, I just sat back and let time tick along.

Nothing is longer than once you get to 30 weeks.

Your like a whale, can't sleep etc
Im 38 weeks and these past 8 weeks have felt like 8 years Hmm

I'm 40+1 and have had a little bit of trouble sleeping over the last couple of weeks and slightly sore hands but otherwise have felt completely fine. Whereas the first 14 weeks were absolute hell. I spent my whole pregnancy being scared that the third trimester would be awful, I wouldn't be able to move, I'd be in pain, I'd be exhausted etc and I was especially scared when I said how hard I was finding the first trimester and everyone said "oh this is nothing, wait until the third!"

So I guess I just want people to know that it isn't always the case that the third trimester is the worst, or even always that it's uncomfortable. I would do the third trimester three times over rather than do the first trimester again!

@CillitBangYouCompleteMe oh no! you've confirmed my suspicions that time will eventually go backwards. It's been heading that way since 30 weeks and now at nearly 35 weeks I feel very certain I have been pregnant for over a year Confused

I'm 7+1 and found out at 4 weeks... I've told immediate family and my best friend but keeping it quiet for a little longer... I've been so moody, sore (especially my boobs!) crazy tired to the point of sleeping most of the weekend cause I can't get enough during the week... and I feel like I hate everyone and everything Confused

My clothes are feeling right already and my "blump" (I'm so bloated it's like a balloon is shoved up there!) didn't look amiss when I tried on a pair of maternity jeans on Friday... cue a breakdown in the changing room about jinxing things by buying these clothes too early...

This is my first pregnancy and I am so excited but also quite terrified - if it wasn't for having my mum and sister close by I think I would drive myself crazy with all the silly questions.

I don't have my midwife appointment 'til mid Feb (9+3) and scan 'til March (12+3) and it feels so far away.

I'm thankful that (at the moment) my nausea has only just started and it's mainly when hubs cooks smelly sausages in the house without opening a window... he got it full barrels this morning 🙄 my sister had HG in both pregnancies so I just keep waiting for it...

My Sis did say that the first and third trimesters are the worst - both bad for different reasons. The first because you feel crap but don't necessarily look pregnant and don't tend to announce it so people just think you're constantly PMT'd... and the third because of all the reasons mentioned above!!

I hope it all goes well for you and time starts speeding up for us all... sorry for the rant!! I think this is my new hobby! 😂

I'm 30 weeks and after a great second trimester the third is really starting to suck. I feel massive and gross, getting increasingly uncomfortable and don't know how I'm going to get through the next 10 weeks. I've got 9 more weeks at work as well. Argh. The first trimester was shit but at least you get a bonus 4 weeks at the start.

I'm only 4+6 and sound out at 3+5 .. I had a mc in September and I've never known time go so slowly and other than time dragging I feel I have been robbed with the excitement and happiness as after a mc it's so bloody worrying. I'm paying for a reassurance at around 8 weeks
