Is it safe to breastfeed while pregnant?

Hello MN experts. Just found out I'm (barely) pg. Am still breastfeeding DD (8mo) a little once a day. She has 3 bottles as well and don't think she would miss the b/f at all if I stopped, I've only continued because I enjoy it and I assume she's getting some benefit.

However a friend of mine (aged 41) who recently m/c at 6wks said her doctor told her that if she gets pg again it would be safest to stop b/f. I am 34 so maybe the advice would be different for me but I'm wondering if I should stop. I don't really want to as I love the closeness with DD but I don't want to do anything to risk the pregnancy.

Advice v welcome!

Her doctor is talking absolute rubbish. His knowledge is obviously from the dark ages! It is absolutekly fine to breastfeed while pregnant. There are a number of mumsnetters who have done it including me. I did stop eventually during pregnancy because I felt rotten and my baby wasn't that bothered. However, it i spossible to feed throughout pregnancy and tandem feed baby and toddler.

Great - thanks all. I knew that was right but the reassurance is great
