I am 35 weeks pg and so far no leaky boobs - but everyone else I know who has had a baby was leaking various liquids from about 20 weeks onwards! Now starting to think that maybe I won't be able to BF - shouldnt the collustrum stuff already be there waiting?

I didn't have any leaks (I could see a bead of milk if I squeezed) but had plenty of milk when it came to feeding. After the first couple of weeks I hardly leaked after at all and I kept feeding until 21 months.

I'm sure there's nothing to worry about,

Good Luck!

bristols · 27/04/2007 21:49

Don't worry! I didn't have leaky boobs at all during my pregnancy. Even after DS was born, I didn't need to use breast pads until my milk 'came in' on the third day. I know what you mean about everyone else's leaking. A friend of mine was changing her breast pads a few times a day at 20 weeks.

BTW, I managed to bf with no probs at all. HTH

With some of mine I could express or leaked from 28weeks. With others there was nothing at all until after I'd given birth. I successfully breastfed all 9. I wouldn't take lack of any leakage pre-birth as an indicator of not being able to bf.

Hey, don't worry! I was induced at 36 weeks with DD and my colostrum took 2-3 days to come through as I think I just wasn't ready as my body was forced into labour early (due to obstetric cholestasis). Anyway, after 4 days of panic, DD took to it like a duck to water and then proceeded not to want to try bottles until 9 months!!

good luck with everything!

mrsjohnsimnelcake · 27/04/2007 21:54

nope ididn't have them either but managed to feed ds1 to 14 months and ds2 to 13 months very happily
don't worry, everyone is differnet

pedalmonster · 27/04/2007 22:05

Thanks so much for the reassurance. Normally I am pretty level headed but suddenly realised today that baby is due in 5 weeks and have gone into some kind of irrational panic.

Very normal, Pedal. Try to enjoy these last few weeks. Get all nesty and cosy at home. And good luck with the birth.

MrsJohnCusack · 27/04/2007 22:10

i didn't leak through pregnancy and furthermore have never leaked a drop (well, once for about 2 seconds last time) whilst breastfeeding. there is no correlation between leakage and ability to feed!

Jacanne · 27/04/2007 22:20

I never leaked during either pregnancy (neither has anyone I know tbh) and have successfully BF 2 for quite a long time. I remember being worried about this the first time I was pregant. It is, I think, very rare for a woman not to produce milk.

moondog · 27/04/2007 22:20

Never leaked in pregnancy or through 31/2 years of b/feeding.

EllieKthePA · 27/04/2007 22:23

i didn't leak at all during pg, not even if i squeezed!

ds2 is now 2 weeks old and i have so much milk we wake up in puddles

so you really don't need to worry (although i know i was asking exactly the same when i was 35 weeks )

RedFraggle · 28/04/2007 13:38

I never did leak in my last pregnancy or whilst breast feeding. I breastfed for about 5- 6 months in the end with no problems. I am almost 34 weeks pg with baby two and have again had no leaks.

motherinferior · 28/04/2007 13:43

I don't remember leaking either time, and I was a fountain, gushing at every possible opportunity.

Snarf02 · 29/04/2007 12:31

i did not leak before labour but once lo born leaked a lot and needed breast pads for ages. Fed until 19 mths as well
